Regular F Train Service For Roosevelt Island This Weekend but Traffic Advisory for Roosevelt Island Bridge Traffic

Image is of traffic waiting to cross Roosevelt Island Bridge last Sunday afternoon

The MTA is reporting that there will be regular F Train service to and from Roosevelt Island this weekend but that next weekend there will be no Manhattan bound F Train service from Roosevelt Island.

However, remember that a weekend does not go by without some transportation challenge for Roosevelt Islanders. RIOC has issued a weekend traffic advisory for the Roosevelt Island Bridge.
The New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT) will perform three consecutive weekends of work operations on the Roosevelt Island Bridge. Work will begin on Friday, March 14. 2008 and weather permitting, continue until Monday, March 31,2008. Work hours will be continuous from Friday at 8:00 p.m. until Monday at 6:00 a.m.

The work activities planned include bridge painting operations. Traffic lane reversals will be in effect during the work hours in which one lane remains open to traffic while work progresses. Eastbound and westbound traffic will alternate using the one open lane. At the end of each weekend two-way traffic direction will be restored....
The pictures above were taken on Sunday afternoon, March 16, as I happened to be walking by so I don't know if that was typical of traffic trying to get over the bridge all weekend or not. On Friday night around 10:PM I did experience a 10-15 minute wait crossing over from Long Island City.

Plan accordingly.

a break for easter would be nice. crazy that they can't accommodate for this one day when a lot of people have to leave the island.
