Tram Plaza Water Fountain Now Working - Ready To Greet Roosevelt Island Tram Passengers

Roosevelt Island Tram Plaza Fountain

Normally, I would not be very happy to see water spraying from a fountain after being soaked all yesterday from the thunder and lightening rain showers. But I was pleasantly surprised last evening upon getting off the Tram to see the Roosevelt Island Tram Plaza Fountain in operation.

The installation of the fountain is just about finished, only a little tweaking here and there before it is ready to greet Roosevelt Island Tram passengers on a full time basis.

Good job by all involved - RIOC and the Hudson/Related Companies. My only suggestion would be that RIOC adds some color to the dancing water spray.

It's not the Digital Water Fountain Clock but still very nice.

That is disgusting- we don't need that, total waste of State Money.

The resident of the older part of Main Street are trying to survive here with Rent hikes, etc.

I have been here for 27 years- we had no fountain near the Tram and we did quite well.

Relax! Our developers of the Riverwalk Buildings paid for the fountain, not the State.

We still don't need that or the NEW BUIDLINGS FOR ALL THE RICH NEWBIES!!!

WE ARE STRUGGLING IN WESTVIEW, ISLAND HOUSE, EASTWOOD TO HOLD ON TO OUR HOMES.

WE MADE IT POSSIBLE BY LIVING HERE FOR OVER 25 YEARS FOR THOSE BUILDINGS TO GO UP AND WE ARE GETTING SCREWED FOR IT.

GOOD LUCK WHEN THE TRAM GOES OUT IN MARCH, NONE OF YOU ARE GOING ANYWHERE, TRUST ME.

WE HAVE JUST BEEN NOTIFIED OF A 14% RENT HIKE IN WESTVIEW, WHICH IS ILLEGAL AND MOST OF US CANNOT AFFORD IT.

I feel bad that your rent is increasing, but that has nothing to do with a fountain. Complain to Micah Kellner. He seems to have lots of time on his hands and should be able to dedicate some of it to help you and your fellow residents.

Micah Kellner does not have lots of time on his hands and he is helping.

I know the fountain has nothing to do with the rent possibly increasing, as here in Westview, back when we were a small town, we fought everything TOGETHER.

It is just infuriating and our part of the Island looks like yours- Thank God.

What a huge waste of funds when the Island is in such disrepair. It's gross!

Who cares who paid for it, how about fixing the escalator by the garage, make sure light bulbs are in street lights, pave roads, remove graffiti, fix broken stones in plaza area by church, plant more trees, etc...

I totally AGREE with the last Two comments.

Westview Resident of over 25 years.

You want to talk about a waste of money!!! Public Safety is getting a brand new office WITH a gym. How about they stop hiring unfit "officers" who need a gym...and hire fit "officers" who probably already belong to a gym.
Why is Public Saftey under construction anyway? We have such a low crime rate it surely cant be to house the criminals. Maybe they need a new break room?

There are huge amounts of money being wasted here on RI, that is another example of OUR-the WIRE Building's money, rent, that is going down the drain.

Westview-27 year Resident.

It is All Sickening!! What happened to this Island, we all used to band together and say something and try to triumph!!!!

You guys are too funny. Do you really think that you can keep a gem like RI to yourself and your outdated ideas? It is about time that RI is becoming more interesting for everybody, especially the ones with some more money. RI looks so much better than only five years ago.

Those of you who complain how bad you have it - MOVE! R.I. is a happening place, with a low crime rate (in large part because it has it's own Public Safety). Beautifying the island should be of interest to all, but instead all some people do is complain about stuff. As I said before, if it's so bad - as you say - MOVE!
