Loud Noise Heard On Roosevelt Island - Childish Prank Or Something Else?

Anybody hear a loud noise on Roosevelt Island yesterday? From the 4/20 -21 daily Roosevelt Island Public Safety Report:

Explosion/Investigation- A loud noise heard on the Island. PSD responded and conducted a search of the Island with negative results. All properties and buildings were in order.
Could it have been a childish prank like this?

Or something else?

UPDATE 2:45 PM - RIOC Public Safety Director Keith Guerra adds:
The noise was heard and reported at approximately 4:50 in the morning. Nothing further to report.

It was a transformer explosion at the ConEd plant across the river. At least it looked that way to me. Immediately after the noise, I saw a plume of smoke rising from the north side of the plant, which was followed by FDNY showing up there several minutes later.

Agreed - transformer failure. Our apartment is right across from the transformer farm on the Queens side, and the transformer failed with a SPECTACULAR bright blue arc that seemed to reach 10-20 feet into the sky.

Unfortunately, I didn't think of grabbing my camera...
