PSD may be able to prevent this kind of incidents on our sidewalks but not if the patrols are confined to Segways and cars where
they have to watch the road (and cannot even look for parking offenders)

You also can't mobilize without some sort of wheels no? The island can be checked in no time with cars and the like. This is like the 10th one of these this year it seems. Not so safe afterall. Thanks for lying to me housing management.

Why do most of these reports end with "searched with negative results"? I am assuming these are off island residents and it would seem difficult to escape capture when you’re on a 2-mile island with only two ways to get off. Wouldn't we at least have video of them going into the train tunnel and ability to track where the metro was purchased? Is this just too much resources brought to bear for a crime of this type? What am I missing?

You're missing the fact that it is island residents committing these crimes.

how do you know it's a fact?? just say island residents are being blamed and arrested for these crimes, even if their not the ones doing it.. most of these crimes are being done by people whom do not reside here.. this is why they do it..they don't care.

why don't R.I provide some form of activities with our youth so they can have something positive to do? if you want them to stop acting out, try doing something with them, besides harrassing them, and accusing them for doing things they did not do..this is what makes youth act out, it's the false accusations against them, but to all those who lie on them, it will come back on you and your children, because God don't like ugly.you will reap whatever you sow !!!

oh please, give me a break. parents, not public safety, are responsible for making sure their offspring are engaged in positive activities. our youth center, flawed as it may be, provides many diversions for island youth during the week and sometimes on weekends. having lived here for over 25 yesrs, i can say that a few island young people indeed do committ some of the crime, as do some of their off island friends, and a handful of folks who do not fall into any particular category.

our psd folks could spend a lot more time doing some of the diversionary things they do now, but until someone does something about groups of young people standing around menacing the rest of us, we will have no relief.

You are a seriously ignorant parent if you think the group of kids on this island who are in a gang don't rob people. Your kid is in a gang. Face facts. My daughter tells me who is who all the time. Do you want me to name the 6-7 real bad kids? Maybe your son is one of them. I bet his facebook and myface or whatever is crawling with gang symbols.

YES, if you truly know who the "Bad Kids are let everyone know. I for one would love to know so I could call the NYPD for any issue at all!!!! Just let them get arrested once or twice and we will all see some results!!!

haha - thanks housing management for the lies. Damn brokers!

If you see something wrong or bad kids doing bad things, make 2 quick calls: one to Public Safety & one to the NYPD. You will get results by one or the other, or both.
