Roosevelt Island Sidewalks and Roads Cleared Of Snow But Not Roosevelt Island Bridge Pedestrian Walkway - Whose Responsibility, RIOC or NYC Department Of Transportation

Following Saturday's snow, the sidewalks and roads of Roosevelt Island were mostly cleared the same day

but the Roosevelt Island Bridge pedestrian walkway had not been shoveled as of this afternoon.

The snowy pathway was slippery this afternoon so be careful if you are walking on it.

I believe responsibility for removing snow from the Roosevelt Island Bridge is not with the Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC) but with the NYC Department of Transportation.

We have the same situation on the sidewalk outside the subway entrance and the adjoining bus stop. RIOC says it's the Transit Authority's responsibility, they say it's RIOC's responsibility. The final decision will come from a judge when somebody falls, breaks a leg and sues both! Anyone wanna try on a cast???

We are also having the same situation on the sidewalk outside the subway entrance and the adjoining bus stop. RIOC says it 's the Transit Authority's responsibility, they say it's RIOC's responsibility. may be the final judgment will come from a judge after somebody will be injured seriously.

FWIW: The MTA is responsible for the area covered by the overhanging roof outside the doors to the subway station.

That is why RIOC cannot erect a sign or map there to direct visitors to Island establishments where they can spend money.
