The American Cancer Society (ACS) is inviting Roosevelt Island residents to organize and participate in a Relay For Life on Roosevelt Island. The ACS will be hosting meetings on September 25 and October 24 to explain what is involved in organizing a Relay For Life and to determine if there are volunteers willing to participate.

A Relay For Life is:
  • Organized, overnight community fundraising walk
  • Teams of people camp out around a track
  • Members of each team take turns walking around the track
  • Food, games and activities provide entertainment and build camraderie
  • Family-friendly environment for the entire community
Because it’s a team event, individual participants are not required to be there the entire time. But it's so much fun, you'll find it hard to leave!
According to the ACS:
Relay For Life of Roosevelt Island in 2013?

  • honor those that have lost their battle with cancer
  • celebrate the progress we have made in the fight against cancer
  • learn and share all there is about health and wellness
  • provide a festival-like experience full of entertainment
...all with your friends, family, and neighbors!

I'm impressed, I have to admit. Seldom do I encounter a blog that's equally educative and engaging, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail
on the head. The issue is something which too few men
and women are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy
that I came across this in my search for something concerning this.
