During that time deliveries and pick-ups will only be allowed in the area. River Road will re-open on Wednesday, September 26th and will return to temporary construction closure times, 8AM to 5PM, for the duration of the Main Street Reconstruction Project.

As a result, the bus stop located at 10 River Road will be temporarily relocated to 40 River Road.

How does a River Road resident cross the road?

Walks halfway down the island, crosses under caution tape and dodges traffic as there is no crosswalk. Thank you RIOC for making life as inconvenient as possible for your residents.

Exaggerate much? Yes, in order to cross the street or catch the red bus some of us have to walk a bit more. If you don't like that, yes, you can cross anywhere and dodge traffic. I and my children have not had any problems crossing any streets as River Road resident. The extra steps to walk will do good for you, I promise.

Now that everything is closed, it would be an ideal time to dig up the park and replace it with level, sodded ground and young trees. :) We could perhaps also replace the railings by the river, necessitating, of course, closing the promenade.

The park is fine as is - the great canopy of the trees can't be duplicated by young trees, and the "formality" of the garden is wonderful. I think the designers of the park/square of Manhattan Park did a great job - even the curved semi-circle benches are special. Anyway, that's my 2 cents on the subject.

I've been told that my online humor tends to sometimes miss the mark. I was joking about replacing the park and railings.

That said, it is somewhat a shame that we didn't intercept any of the z-brick - it would have been neat to reuse it for redoing / leveling the walkways. The bushy area near 40RR could also benefit from a bit of a landscaper's touch - it's becoming a bit overgrown.

Coming home from work at 1am this morning, I had to exit the garage, walk down to the school and back around to my building, all to avoid the giant moat. Who knew we lived in a castle??? I feel so much safer from the dragons!

Haha! So much for picking up nuance in blog comments - then again cats aren't particularly jocular creatures. The z-bricks are being dumped! How can that be?!

I wonder what the purpose of watering that part of the street is. It just leaves a big mess.

The contractors actually sorted out all the good z-bricks, wrapped them up on pallets, and transported them somewhere. I assume the RIOC keeps them to fix up other parts or they are going to be sold?

I saw them sorting and stacking on the first day, but on day 2, they started using a backhoe and just dropped them in a dump truck.

I asked RIOC VP Fernando Martinez yesterday about the watering of Main Street in front of 10 River Road and he replied " We are intentionally watering the concrete so that it can cure properly."
