Roosevelt Island's Meditation Steps are open today and they look great.

It's a bit chilly out today but give it a look and a sit down.

When spring and summer return in a few months, expect alot of people relaxing at the new Meditation Steps watching the East River flow by.

Here's how the Meditation Steps looked last Spring

and the story behind it's $359 Thousand Brazilian Hardwood renovation.

Agree the new steps look great. They also look great from the Tram--a big improvement.

Actually I think we should be thanking the residents, unless I am incorrect we put up the cash through ground rents. If there are about 10,000 people on the island that means we spent about $30 each on the meditation steps give or take. And frankly while the Brazilian hardwood looks great composite decking would have been faster and cheaper. Don't forget RIOC is a corporation of the island and whatever they spend money on eventually comes out of our rents.

You're right - good point. Also, if you have a choice, use the tram over the train since some of the tram fare does go back to RIOC, which can then be used to keep up the island.
