Not sure why you think the video and your blog entry from a few years ago are different versions of the history of the memorial (maybe you can explain?). There is history that motivated the memorial and its design and then there is the usual quibble by locals and politicians when it comes to the implementation. News at 11.

That said, I think the park is a success. It did put Roosevelt Island on the map. I think we just have to make Lighthouse Park more attractive so tourists and other visitors will walk the entire length of the island and make our retail corridor more exciting and attractive.
