Once again Rioc incompetence. How about calling our City Council rep and Gov Cuomo's office. If Cuomo wants this island's support in the upcoming election he needs to know just how bad the current RIOC is!

My husband bought a sandwich (one of the ones pre-wrapped in cellophane) from Wholsome Factory and it had fungus on it! Disappointing-- we were excited to have a new deli/grocery store, but we definitely aren't buying there anymore. I'm attaching pics.

DeBlasio is absolutely correct in booting the private schools of out City-owned space: According to de Blasio, charter/public school cohabitation is “abhorrent.” And he's right about that Moskowitz: There is no way in hell that Eva Moskowitz should get free rent, O.K.?” de Blasio said, according to the New Yorker. http://dailycaller.com/2014/02/28/uh-oh-de-blasios-war-on-charter-schools-begins/ If the charters are so great then they should be greatly profitable. People will vote with their dollars and the charters can build their own damn schools. Leave public education alone, no privatization - ever.

NYC = Pro-Union. Accept it - or move out. WFP is very popular in NYC. That's just the way it is - NYC is a highly liberal City.

The attitude of the majority is reflected in de Blasio's politics. The majority of residents in NYC are not white - the aggregate of minorities (Asian, Latino, Black, and any variation thereof, such as bi-racial) has surpassed whites in NYC, and unsurprisingly, the minorities tend to be more liberal and vote accordingly. Despite the press barrage vs de Blasio - expected since the media is largely controlled by by conservative types like BB - de Blasio's, the Union's, and WFP support continues in NYC.

De Blasio delivered on his promises with regard to Stop and Frisk, and now will remove the charters from public school space, as promised. You can almost faintly hear the applause from the vast majority of the population who find Eva Moskowitz annoying, as she is shown the door.

Heather: Definitely call 311 and report the unsafe food purchase. Get a tracking number for your complaint and follow up - demand to have a food inspector visit the premises. They will shut them down if necessary. It may take a few minutes to file the complaint, but it is worth it as a service to fellow consumers. Just have all the information available - which you can get from the receipt, address & phone number of the store, time and day of purchase of the sandwich. Probably the photos can be relayed to the Board of Health/whatever regulatory agency will handle your complaint as well. Thanks for alerting us to the unsafe conditions at Wholesome Factory.

You're right-- I will call them Monday. I hadn't bothered because it seemed like too much trouble, but if I can upload pictures here I can certainly report it as well. Thanks for reminding me to do so.

Maybe they should break up the MTA too - go back to having little competing railroads on all the lines. I guess that would make you happy.

How about the bridges and tunnels? Maybe the Port Authority should be smashed as well - privatized into 20 different companies, each "competing" and setting their own tolls.

If you don't like free universal public education, as good or bad as it is, then maybe you don't like our system of taxation, which supports our system of government. That means you are anti-American, doesn't it, since the foundation of our system is the extension of free public education to all. Voters after all have to know how to read in order to read a ballot.
