Roosevelt Island Is Least Smelly Neighborhood In Manhattan Says Report On New York City's Most And Least Odorous Neighborhoods

How smelly is Roosevelt Island compared to the rest of New York City? The NYC real estate web site Brick Underground says Roosevelt Island is the least smelly of all Manhattan neighborhoods

According to Brick Underground:

... we asked apartment data site AddressReport to crunch the numbers on the most and least fragrant 'hoods in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens....
and
... Some notes on methodology: the site took a look at the frequency of 311 complaints for different odor-related issues in every neighborhood, then weighted the frequency of complaints by the neighborhood's population....
concluding:
... quiet and relatively removed areas like Roosevelt Island, Brooklyn Heights, and Woodside come out smelling (relatively) like roses....

Of all the Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens neighborhoods, only Brooklyn's Starrett City was less smelly than Roosevelt Island according to the report.

I guess the 600 section of Main Street that smells like a combination of vinegar and syrup has not created the level of call volume I'd think it would. ::calling311asItype::

is it stronger then the smell of pot by M&D every night.

The area around 2 and 4 River Road is also pot central. Folks of all ages standing there in broad daylight sharing a joint or two...

I've been saying that since I first commented here - visible drug sales going on at the bottom of the ramp in front of 2-4. I can deal with the deli - 2-4 is the least comfortable place to have to walk past at night.

And you want and expect PSD TO CLEAN THAT UP WITH NO GUNS?

Drugs in most cases equal weapons.

Yeah, no.

I don't mind pot smokers and am all for legalization. Just amazed how they just flaunt the law. Like bicyclists running red lights :-)

I never pointed a finger at PSD. I don't know how you fix it, I just know it's happening.

You spend a lot of time on here defending PSD's inaction, while supporting their existence. What do you propose, really? Eliminate PSD and expand the 114th? Make PSd their own precinct and arm them? More often that not, I agree with you, but I'm not sure where it ever leaves us...

Give PSD the technology and tools to do their jobs. Period. That's where is should start. Let the PSD director do what is BEST for not only the island but the department.

Arm them, let them be their own independent agency.

Let them do warrant checks and clean up garbage while stopping someone for an infraction.

They still use hand written command logs instead of computers. They can't even run names or license plates.

What a joke!

awesome. Why can't we do any of that? (serious question)
