I would hope RIOC posts signs and security personnel at the tram and subway station to let "Island Tourists" know that they are not going to be allowed admittance to Southpoint. It would almost be fun to watch them try and turn away our Queens and Manhattan neighbors.

I wonder if they will only issue 3,000 tickets or is it all about lining up early enough on Saturday because only 3,000 people will be admitted, no matter if you got a wristband or not.

RIOC emphasizes that only those with wristbands will be admitted. No wristband, no admittance.

Oh yeah. Sorry. I was asking if the RIOC will hand out more than 3,000 wristbands or is it guaranteed that if I have a wristband I will get in no matter what time I show up?

My understanding is that if you have a wristband you will get into Southpoint or FDR Four Freedoms Park. However, remember that each park has a capacity limit of 1500 people.

Wristbands will be handed out at Sportspark to those who provide their ticket (electronically or printed out on paper) - that is, those who have registered online

It is first-come first-served with respect to the ticket-holders finding a good viewing spot at the park - the good viewing spots will probably be immediately snapped up,

As there is no prohibition listed to bringing in lawn/beach chairs I am assuming they will be allowed (as they're allowed at RIOC outdoor film showings).

Okay, so there seems to be an agreement that there will be no more than 3,000 tickets which equals to 3,000 wristbands. As long as I show up at whatever time at Sports Park to receive my wristband and walk down to the park I will be guaranteed entry I just have to make do with whatever viewing spot I can get.

The only reason I am asking is because I have kids and showing up at 5pm will be a bit too much for them in terms of waiting. I want to get there a lot closer to 9pm.

I just called RIOC: You can arrive up until 8:30 pm to have your ticket scanned. After 8:30 pm, tickets will no longer be scanned (since the fireworks are at about 9 or 9:15, I think, or whenever nightfall is - also, scanning the tickets at 8:30 would leave an attendee with about enough time to walk from Sportspark to the venue).

Also, lawn/beach chairs are allowed except not the reclining ones since they would take up too much space.

Quick recap: it was awesome. I was afraid that it would be mobbed but it was far from it. It seems that pretty much everybody squeezed into the FFP and hardly anybody stayed in SP even though the view was excellent no matter where you were.
