Scenes From Macy's July 4 Fireworks Celebration At Roosevelt Island Southpoint And FDR Four Freedoms Park - An Awesome Night

For the first time since 2008, Roosevelt Island residents and visitors watched the Macy's July 4 Fireworks from Southpoint Park and FDR Four Freedoms
and it was FANTASTIC.

Yet Another RI'er reports:
Quick recap: it was awesome. I was afraid that it would be mobbed but it was far from it. It seems that pretty much everybody squeezed into the FFP and hardly anybody stayed in SP even though the view was excellent no matter where you were.
Here's the the opening

and finale of the 2015 Macy's July 4 Fireworks celebration at FDR Four Freedoms Park.

Great job by the Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC) and FDR Four Freedoms Park - Thank You.

Will update with more pics later.

and RIOC Public Safety Department keeping the event safe and secure.

One last look at the 2015 Macy's July 4 Fireworks Celebration from Roosevelt Island.

At the end of the Fireworks, the crowd exited Four Freedoms/Southpoint Park and headed home in a very orderly manner

passing the Cornell Tech construction site.

There was not much a a crowd at the subway station to leave Roosevelt Island.

After the fireworks, some went home and others watched Independence Day movie at Firefighters Field.
July 4 was done very well on Roosevelt Island this year.

It was fabulous - very well-organized, not crowded at all! I only got there a little after 8, and had no problem "claiming" a "front-row" spot a little to the left of the FDR sculpture right behind the roped off "room" area of the memorial as soon as the "room" was roped off at 8:30 pm - from that angle, not only were the 3 barges visible, but we could also see the synchronous fireworks going off from the double barge South of the Brooklyn Bridge in the distance above Manhattan! I must say, this for me was one of my all-time greatest July 4th Fireworks viewing experiences! You could actually not only clearly see everything, but weren't packed in at all - everyone was polite and orderly!
