Recently, Community Board 8 member and Roosevelt Island resident Ellen Polivy interviewed Judith Berdy, President of the Roosevelt Island Historical Society (RIHS). The interview is the latest in the 'CB8 Speaks' series. The online series, presented by Community Board 8, features discussions with notable community members.

In this enlightening dialogue, Ms. Berdy recounts the history of Roosevelt Island and the background of the RIHS, as well as the society's advocacy and preservation work. She describes RIHS programs and sheds light on several island landmarks, including the Octagon.
