Cornell University is currently conducting a search for an Assistant Director of Career Management, to join our Cornell Tech campus in NYC.

Department & Position Background
Cornell Tech, a new model for graduate education, is committed to developing pioneering leaders and technologies for the digital age. We are a part of Cornell University, and operated as a start-up out of the Google building in NYC and moving to our Roosevelt Island campus in summer 2017. We are looking to build a new model of career services and looking for experienced technical recruiters and/or other professionals to join the team.

As the Assistant Director of Career Management, Cornell Tech, you will work with the best and brightest graduate students helping them define their career paths as well as partner with start-ups and mature tech companies to support their talent pipeline. You will leverage your knowledge of the technical recruiting/interviewing process to ensure all of our graduates are successfully prepared for the technical hiring process. This position will allow you to experience the feel of a start-up within a well-established institution.

Core Qualifications:

A BS or BA degree, STEM degree is desirable with 4+ years of experience in industry
Technical recruiting experience or experience conducting technical interviews/screens in tech companies
Experience in recruiting and an understanding of the job markets for business and technical degree holders

And an Administrative Assistant:

The Administrative Assistant will provide administrative support to faculty and staff of the Cornell Tech Campus including: receptionist/ front-desk duties; scheduling meetings; planning, organizing, and providing day-of-event support for faculty activities such as conferences, seminars, symposiums; maintaining and updating applicable website content; assisting with travel arrangements; maintaining files, photocopying, scanning, and filing documents; preparing and processing reimbursements for faculty, staff and visitors; processing department billings and other requisitions; typing and editing correspondence, coursework, presentations, and proposals; preparing basic reports and filling out forms for sponsored programs submissions; tracking office supply inventory and ordering supplies. Responsible for providing day-to-day administrative support and ensure smooth running of campus admin operations. Responds to routine and non-routine inquiries and coordinates activities as necessary. Demonstrated ability to be flexible and multi-task in a high-paced team environment and meet deadlines. Must be able to anticipate staff and faculty needs and actively seek solutions. Requires the ability to work independently and take initiative. Attention to detail, verbal/ written communication skills, positive demeanor with interpersonal skills are necessary....

Director of Runway and Spinouts, Cornell Tech and Jacobs Institute

Cornell Tech and the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute (Jacobs Institute) in NYC focus on creating pioneering leaders and technologies for the digital age, through research, technology commercialization, and graduate-level education at the professional masters, doctoral, and postdoctoral levels.

Cornell Tech and the Jacobs Institute are developing specialized programs to support the creation of new companies based on digital technologies developed on the Cornell Tech campus in NYC.

Startup activity at Cornell Tech has reached a critical mass and is accelerating, with many entrepreneurial faculty, postdocs, and masters students committed to creating new ventures. Current programs that support these startup and spinout activities include the Runway Startup Postdoc program, the Spinout Clinic and Startup Award program for Masters student teams that create startups during their Startup Studio experience at Cornell Tech, Cornell Tech’s co-working space for recently-spun-out startups, and experimental programs such as the Founders-in-Residence Program aimed at commercialization of faculty research

The Director owns these spinout activities, and supports entrepreneurs at Cornell Tech and the Jacobs Institute, by developing, executing, and improving proactive group clinics to educate and train campus entrepreneurs, and by giving individual attention and advice to campus entrepreneurs as specific challenges arise.

While supporting all types of campus entrepreneurs, the Director will give particular effort to lead and shape the Jacobs Institute’s Runway Startup Postdoc program, with the objectives to foster the impact of academic research through startups, to educate and transform scientists and graduate students into successful entrepreneurs, and to contribute to the Cornell Tech-Jacobs Institute mission to integrate academic research with external engagement.
