Roosevelt Island Sportspark Facility Closing Temporarily For Renovations Starting August 15 Says RIOC - Where Can A Resident Find A Roosevelt Island Indoor Pool To Swim?

As reported last April:

... the Roosevelt Island Sportspark Facility will close temporarily starting about August 15, 2016 for renovations to include the installation of a new roof, a new boiler and repairs to the pool. The Sportspark facility will probably re-open by Thanksgiving.

No work will be done during these renovations for improvements to the locker rooms and showers....
Sportspark Image From Google Maps

The Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC) reported yesterday:
Please be advised that Sportspark (250 Main Street) will be closing for renovations & repairs on Monday, August 15th through Fall 2016. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Janet Falk wonders if she and other residents will have a Roosevelt Island indoor pool to swim in during the Sportspark renovations.

According to Ms. Falk:
As someone who swims at least twice a week, I am unhappy at the prospect of not being able to swim regularly in an indoor pool on the Island.

Earlier this week I investigated access to the other indoor pools and learned the following:

Westview Pool requires a membership and only residents of Westview and Island House may purchase it. Members may pay $10 per guest and must accompany the guest at all times, according to the management company. (Anecdotal reports suggest the supervision is lax.)

Rivercross Pool requires a guest card, which is sold for $50. Members must escort guests. That pool is currently closed for about three weeks, according to the doorman.
Will Rivercross and Westview allow all Roosevelt Island residents to swim in their building pools?

UPDATE 10:30 PM - Ms Falk adds:
... The Rivercross card is for 10 visits.

Rio 2016 Olympics Opening Ceremony And Parade Of Nations Watched On Big Screen From Roosevelt Island Riverwalk Commons Lawn - Global Village For Some, Excessive Noise Volume For Others

The Riverwalk Commons Lawn

was a global village

filled with Roosevelt Island residents

from all over the world watching the 2016 Rio Olympics Opening Ceremony

last Saturday evening, August 5.

Here's first few minutes of the Parade Of Nations led into the Olympic Stadium by Greece

as seen from the Roosevelt Island Riverwalk Lawn.

It was a very nice event for those attending. But, there were complaints from some Riverwalk residents about the excessive noise volume coming from the outside speaker system that could be heard inside the Riverwalk apartments (with closed windows) surrounding the Commons.

The noise was coming not from the Olympics TV Broadcast, but from the sound amplification system used by the event's Master of Ceremony who spoke during the TV commercials.
