Visitor Makes A Very Well Done Short Travel Documentary On Roosevelt Island - A Welcome Escape From Hustle And Bustle Of Manhattan

According to The World Is One:
The Roosevelt Island Tramway which has been in operation since 1976. It is one of the attractions for tourists in New York. Roosevelt Island is tiny river island surrounded by the East River flowing between the Boroughs of Manhattan and Queens.

This island was known for its hospitals and prisons during the 19th Century and was called "the Welfare Island". Today, it is largely a residential island. Although the Island is part of the Borough of Manhattan, it is distinct from Manhattan in many ways. Roosevelt Island is a quiet place with a minimal commercial centres and restaurants and hardly any traffic. But it is cosmopolitan in nature and is home to people of several nationalities, many of whom work at the United Nations. It is known for affordable housing, parks for children, plenty of greenery and picturesque views of New York from all sides. One of the attractions is the leisurely walk around the entire island during which you can see the Lighthouse, The Octagon Tower, ruins of the Smallpox Hospital, the Blackwell House and the Chapel of the Good Shepherd. Roosevelt Island is indeed a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of Manhattan!
Nicely Done.
