Getting a Parking Ticket in Front of Roosevelt Island's Riverwalk Building

Filed under the category of things to avoid. I noticed a Roosevelt Island Public Safety Officer issuing parking tickets outside of Riverwalk Buildings this morning. If you are going to park on Roosevelt Island's Main Street, remember to get your parking stickers from the dispensing machines..

In the Northtown section (Rivercross, Eastwood, Island House, Westview) cars double park or park in No Parking or No Standing areas all the time and Public Safety ignores them. The only ticketing you see there is for u-turns.

if you see an illegally parked car, just make a phone call. then its mandated for them to do it i think...

you cant have it both ways though. you can't call them parking nazis one day and then complain they are giving too much leeway the next. do you want parking enforcement or not?

Save your tickets you get at the meter and once you have accumulated a lot of them and they are on your winshield, usually the Public Safety officers are too lazy to look at all those tickets and just go on to the next car thinking that you are paying to park there; better yet pick them up on the floor along main street by the Riverwalk buildings. :-)
