Roosevelt Island Resident Opens New Mediterranean Eatery Restaurant Serving Tasty Pita Wraps, Hummus Platters, Rice Bowls & More - We're A Fast, Casual, Very Fresh Little Friendly Neighborhood Restaurant Serving The Utmost Flavors Of The Mediterranean Region Says Owner Alon Kruvi

ME is a new Roosevelt Island restaurant recently opened on Main Street by local resident Alon Kruvi. ME, an acronym for Mediterranean Eatery or Middle East, serves very tasty Pita Wraps, Hummus Platters and Rice Bowls. I've had the Falafel Pita Wrap several times and Rice Bowl with Shawarma. Both were delicious. ME has quickly become a favorite of many Roosevelt Island residents.

According to Mr Kruvi:

... We're a Middle Eastern/Mediterranean fast, casual, very fresh, little friendly neighborhood restaurant. That's how we see ourselves. We have a very small menu but very fresh. Everything is prepped in-house daily to serve our customers the utmost of the flavors of the Mediterranean region...
I spoke with Mr Kruvi yesterday morning just before ME opened for business.

Here's the ME menu.

and take a look at the tasty dishes from the ME Instagram Page.

ME is open Tuesday thru Saturday 11:30 AM to 8 PM and Sunday 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM, closed on Monday.

Stop by, say hello to Alon and try out the new Roosevelt Island ME restaurant.

Taking place on the Meditation Lawn on Saturday, October 1st from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, this 17th annual festival will include eclectic live painting of original murals, food vendors and more.

This year’s theme, “Celebrating Diversity,” invites artists to envision how celebrating diversity can display how we appreciate our differences and come together as one. After the festival, selected artworks will be displayed at Roosevelt Island’s Motorgate Atrium Gallery. All artwork will remain RIOC property and may be displayed on Roosevelt Island to beautify the community in the future.

Call For Artists!

Sponsored Post - Summer Ending Soon But Hurricane Season Lasts Through October Says NYC, Do You Know Your Roosevelt Island Hurricane Zone? Watch NYC Emergency Management Department Atlantic Hurricane Season Workshop

The NYC Emergency Management Department reports:

What are hurricane evacuation zones?

There are six hurricane evacuation zones, ranked by the risk of storm surge impact, with zone 1 being the most likely to flood. In the event of a hurricane or tropical storm, residents in these zones may be ordered to evacuate.

I noticed that my zone has changed. Why is that?

Zones are updated to incorporate new, higher resolution storm surge model output from the National Weather Service. These data, combined with improved topographic data, and information from actual events, allow the City to more accurately define areas most at risk of flooding due to storm surge from a hurricane....

Roosevelt Island residents live in both Zones 2 and 3 depending upon the location of your building. As shown in the NYC Hurricane Evacuation Zone Finder below, the Roosevelt Island buildings colored in brown are in Zone 2 and those colored in Yellow are in Zone 3. The nearby Evacuation Centers are shown too.

The Octagon, Manhattan Park, Westview, Island House, Roosevelt Landings, Cornell Tech, Coler Hospital and Riverwalk 480, 475 and 460 Main Street buildings are in Zone 2.

Riverwalk 405, 425, 455, 465 and Rivercross (531) buildings are in Zone 3.

The NYC Emergency Management Department hosted a 2022 Atlantic Hurricane Season workshop for community media last June. I asked why some Roosevelt Island buildings are in Zone 2 and those next door are Zone 3.
