According to the Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC):
Please be advised on Thursday, September 6, 2012, Z-Brick repair work will begin at two locations:

1) On the West drive and sidewalk in front of the R.I. Historical Society Kiosk (between the kiosk and the tennis bubble).

2) Inside Lighthouse Park (z-brick replacement around tree pits)

During the Z-brick repair work on the West Drive, flag men will be on-site and will assist with vehicular traffic as necessary. The work is estimated to be completed at both locations by Friday, September 14, 2012.

RIOC seems to have changed their tune? According to the 8/30/2011 column by Ms. Torres: "Unfortunately, there are no z-brick manufacturers left that can make the exact type of z-brick that currently serves as the plaza surface. Therefore, we cannot continue to replace all the beautiful, but broken brick we have throughout the Island." What changed? Where'd they find the z-bricks?

This is a good blog for a company who engages in brick repairs. One has the responsibility to make the community be aware of what will happen. They even finds time to hear expressions from people through discussions. I really appreciate this kind of effort from RIOC.
