Sad News - Cornell University President Elizabeth Garrett Passes Away This Week At Age Of 52, Colon Cancer Research Fund Established At Weill Cornell In Her Honor - Roosevelt Island Condolences To Her Family, Friends & Colleagues

Even though the Roosevelt Island Cornell Tech campus will not open until 2017, those associated with the project and Cornell University colleagues have become members of the Roosevelt Island community. With sadness, on March 7, Cornell University announced the death of it's President, Elizabeth Garrett.

According to the Cornell Chronicle:
The Cornell community gathered solemnly across campus in the late afternoon March 7 to pay their respects to Cornell’s 13th president, Elizabeth Garrett, who died the previous day of colon cancer....
