Roosevelt Island Tram Return Of Service Date Delayed Until October 16, Take Virtual Ride - Manhattan Tram Station Token Booth In Dumptster, Say Bye

New-York Minutes from Mr Teatime on Vimeo.

As reported in Nighthawks Outdoor Movie Post post earlier today, the tentative return date to service of the Roosevelt Island Tram will be pushed back again from September 25 to October 16. According to Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC) Vice President of Operations Fernando Martinez:
We have a tentative date of October 16th for the Tram to return to service.
Earlier this week, Roosevelt Island Historical Society (RIHS) President Judy Berdy sent in these last pictures of the Manhattan Tram Station Token Booth before it goes to meet it's final fate

and commented:
No, the RIHS does not want to adopt this. I went by 60th Street yesterday and spotted the Manhattan Tram Station Token Booth in a dumpster on the street.
A rather inelegant end to an old friend. How many of us have stepped in to warm up in the winter or cool off in the summer? (Your names will not be revealed).
More Token Booth Dumpster images from Ms. Berdy.

Here's the plan for Roosevelt Island and Manhattan side Tram station improvement's to begin once the Tram is back in service and a 3d You Tube Video from Fire Line Studios.

Just saw this, not thrilled, we have been without Tram service now since March 1st.

Does anyone know the reason(s) for the delay in the return of the Trams-new, modern, etc.

How many Millions of dollars are being wasted on this and all this time and now the Tram return being pushed back for about another 2 mos.

This will inconvenience the children returning back to school in September as well as the rest of the Island Residents, tourists, etc.

RIOC- please give some specific reasons- it would be greatly appreciated.

And here come the complainers... the thing is nothing in construction has a firm completion date. If the tram really reopens on Oct 16th we should be lucky that it took them only six weeks longer than originally planned.

The children have been taking alternative transportation since March. It is not going to be an issue for anybody. The shutdown of the tram had absolutely no impact on getting off this island. None of the horror scenarios that were suggested before the shutdown came true. None.

Let's all relax and enjoy the last few weeks of summer. How's that?

No extra money is being spent by RIOC due to these delays. The financial burdon falls on the shoulders of POMA. As a matter of fact, I heard, POMA will have to pay RIOC for each day it is delayed past the agreed date of October 1st.

By firing the President of RIOC in mid-construction, the project is going to suffer!!!! Shame on the Board for their petulant behavior.
