The MTA has issued a weekend service advisory for the F train, which may affect travel plans. The Tram will run on a rush hour schedule from 7:00 AM until 10:00 PM to accommodate any increase in traffic. As reported July 28:
Please plan your travel accordingly and visit mta.info/weekender or call 511 for more information.

... During the July 24 Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC) Operations Advisory Committee meeting, I asked if the weekend F Train service disruptions will occur during the duration of Tram Station repairs and single service Tram Cabin service.Earlier today I asked RIOC President Susan Rosenthal:
RIOC Director Of Operations Shelton Haynes replied the MTA advised RIOC that the regular, routine weekend Roosevelt Island F Train service interruptions will not occur during the Tram Station Repairs and Single Cabin Service period. But in the event of an emergency, there still may be Roosevelt Island weekend F train service interruptions....
With no Roosevelt Island F Train service to Manhattan and only one Tram Cabin in service this Labor Day Weekend, will RIOC run a Red Bus Shuttle to and From Manhattan? The NYC Runs Labor Day 5 & 10K Race is on Monday, September 4.
Also, I believe there is a NYC Runs race on Roosevelt Island Sunday which will make transportation even more difficult this weekend.
Will update when reply received.
Roosevelt Island resident VG notes:
No Manhattan-bound subway from Roosevelt Island this Labor Day weekend. Ferry will get a ton of riders!
The ferry will be a great ride - if we can get on.Another day, another F train delay. Thank you @NYCferry for the peaceful ride from #RooseveltIsland. pic.twitter.com/qXjEZEfpRC— Robert Ostergaard (@JROstergaard) August 30, 2017
UPDATE 9/1- RIOC will not run a Red Bus Shuttle to Manhattan this weekend. According to RIOC Vice President of Operations Shelton Haynes:
In response to the inquiries requesting additional shuttle bus service during this weekend, please note that these are the factors that RIOC considered:
· Insufficient number of available Bus drivers
· Ferry service runs every half hour
· Shuttle bus analysis indicated low ridership except during weekday rush hours
· The Q102 runs from Roosevelt Island to Queens Plaza which is a transfer option
· F-train from Roosevelt Island station to Roosevelt Ave (estimated to be approximately 12 minutes)
o Travelers to Roosevelt Ave can transfer to the Manhattan bound F-train
This weekend should be longer. Your commute shouldn't be. #FairFix https://t.co/mQv12p1FIM pic.twitter.com/WdSDltTRFS
