What a bunch of babies.

I love when Bill Long admits that the censure motion doesn't really achieve much other than to send a message to the community.

Bill, those of us who read this blog are already aware of your feelings.  If the point is to send a strong message to the community that your impotent organization does not condone Frank's behavior, then why haven't I seen a formal statement put out to the community in a bold way?  It's been reported on this blog, the administrator of which seems to disagree with you, and it was reported in The WIRE, which is not (supposed to be) RIRA's megaphone.  It wasn't even mentioned in Katz's column in The WIRE.  So what gives?

Another priceless moment is when the fella tries to claim that "defamatory" is not a real word and, therefore, the motion may need some revision.

Cry babies, indeed. If you represent the public and are elected by the public, better grow some skin! None of these people would ever last in a real political arena.

And another thing...

Several RIRA members definitely read the comments on this blog on a routine basis.  The censure motion against Frank was debated here for days prior to the vote and people like Vinny Fortunas were well aware of the negative feelings that had been voiced in the matter.  And yet not a single RIRA member acknowledged those opinions when they were given a chance to weigh-in before the vote.

Even if they disagreed with the opinions they read here, you would think that at least one of them would say something like, "I've heard a mix of opinions from members of the community on this, but here's why I feel the way I do..."  Instead, all they talk about is their personal reasons for not liking Frank.

Chris,  Bill Long and others were being as sympathetic and kind as possible by taking a first step when in fact they could have just gone for a vote to throw him off completely.

Then you should listen to the video again because most who previously wrote on the blog also spoke at the RIRA meeting.

Vicki, I think you may be missing my point.  What I mean is that it seems hypocritical for Bill to say that the most important reason behind the censure motion is to deliver a strong message to the community and then, once the motion passes, to not actually issue any direct and formal statement to the community.  It doesn't add up.

Yes, I know they spoke.  My point is that none of them actually referenced the opinions they've been confronted with.  It just doesn't give me the sense that RIRA members are capable of truly representing   -- or at least acknowledging -- the opinions of a diverse resident community.

None of them represent me or a lot of people i know that pay to live here on this island.

And from the number of only at or about 10 percent of the poplulation that voted,  out of close to 14,000 that live here, they do not represent the majority that live here. Nobody cares, so they seem to think that gives them full reign to do what they want. IT will stop one day. They are not God, nor do they have the power of God. They just have a God like complex.

Frank, I'll give you a high-five for telling it like it is.  The members of the RIRA know what the conflicts of interest are... they know their President (and his wife) really don't know what they are doing... and they know that what happened at Wednesday's meeting was out of control. They just don't do anything about it because they have to stick together (whether they're right or wrong).  It's because they think there is strength in numbers.  You go ahead and keep making sense.  You show your strength as an individual.

I hope to see Frank on the Board of RIOC soon, and the people of RIRA and their Fanzine the Wire a thing of the past very soon!

It's troubling that the ongoing solution to disagreement, as presented by Ms. Feinmel, Ms. Smith, Ms. Mincheff, and others, is throwing people off RIRA committees.  For example, Ms. Mincheff didn't like the Housing Committee report, so in the Public Session she called for the Common Council to remove several members from the Housing Committee.

Characterizing Mr. Long as being "sympathetic" is a stretch: the vote didn't even achieve 50% of the members present, members heard Mr. Long say the censure has no effect, and had it had an effect, the number supporting it would be much less.  And, as I've pointed out, Mr. Long's complaints were unsubstantiated or not true.

Why not address or debate a topic of substance?

How about throwing Ms. Smith off the RIOC Board?  She is RIRA, not RIOC!  She's only on the RIOC Board to make sure she and her Rivercross colleagues "get paid".

Frank Farance speaks in bold colors and not pastels. That makes for a good leader. He would do well on RIOC as well as RIRA. I hope I live to see this happen. The island needs an honest and sincere person that will represent all folks on the island .. some do not like him because he is a threat to their free reign of things. People should listen to him and stop poo pooing him so much. People fear the truth.....
