I think every resident on this little Island can agree that for many years RIOC have provided thousands to these community organizations with little or no expectations of residents receiving vital services in return.

There is one community organization that I can think of that charges residents a pretty high price for their daycamp services from 9-5PM during the summer months.

Talking about "Double dipping".

The community organization receives PPF yet charges a high price for day camp services? The implication being that the organization is perfectly "solvent' "not in need of" PPF given the price it charges? But - I was under the impression that PPF is applied toward toward scholarships?

CK - you're impression is correct. As far as I know, only Island Kids has received PPF for their Summer Camp, of which 100% went to providing scholarships. And we underwent pretty rigorous auditing by RIOC to ensure that the money was only spent in that way. What is missing in this discussion is the fact that the loss of these funds means that Island Kids ability to offer a high-quality camp experience to kids who depend on scholarships is now severely diminished. This "Fat Cat" narrative is sheer nonsense, and detrimental to the small, Island based organizations that depend on PPF to provide necessary services to the constituents that they serve.

Thanks, Romano Reid, for your cogent comments.

Ms. Helstien, your fraudulent proposals really hurt RIRA and community. Ditto for Joyce Mincheff Short, who now has RIRA declaring PPF as a RIOC "debt". Ms. Short is head of the RIRA Government Relations Committee and has been active in the Maple Tree Group in proposing legislation on RIOC. Ya think Ms. Short would be aware of the fact that, via statute, RIOC is not permitted to take on debt. Not to mention, Ms. Short proposes (and RIRA endorses) the idea that, essentially, monies can be extracted from a government agency by fabricating a debt. And it didn't help RIRA that RIOC was absolutely dismissive of RIRA's debt fabrication idea.

Ms. Helstien's idea last year was to create, essentially, a Services Rendered nod-nod-wink-wink mechanism for transferring money to RIRA, And Ms. Helstien boasts RIRA's ability to co-mingle funds with RIOC's money.

Not a strong feeling that RIRA can manage money well, quite the opposite.

Sherie - Please cease & desist on making false accusations. If I were to make a post ,I always post my "true identity"such as what I'm doing now.

You are all over the place with your baseless accusations . However, I must say the individual who posted the comments as it relates to the practices of various community organizations was very much on point with their observations. I am sure they concealed their identity because of what you have and continue to do by persecuting those residents who speak the truth.

You Sherie continue to alienate people . That is the reason RIRA participation continues to deplete.
