Roosevelt Island residents have been eagerly waiting for news on the rooftop bar and ground floor restaurant scheduled to open this summer at the nearly completed Roosevelt Island Graduate Hotel on the Cornell Tech Campus.

Here you go. According to a Graduate Hotel spokesperson:

LA-based hospitality team and NYC natives, Med Abrous and Marc Rose,

are returning to their NYC roots as the exclusive food & beverage operators for the highly anticipated Graduate Roosevelt Island (at the Cornell Tech campus), opening summer 2020.

Abrous and Rose are behind Los Angeles' award-winning cocktail hot spot The Spare Room at the historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel; the iconic 35-year old Chinese restaurant Genghis Cohen; and, all-day cafe concept Winsome . Additionally, the two have recently opened the Mountaineering Club and Poindexter at the Graduate Seattle, and will open a restaurant at the property next year.

"When the opportunity to do a project in our hometown of New York City came our way, we were intrigued. But, when we found out the project was on Roosevelt Island, we knew we had a chance to do something that had never been done before. We couldn’t be more excited to attack this uncharted territory of the city with our pioneering partners at Graduate Hotel," said Abrous and Rose.

As the first-ever hotel on the island, the 18-story, Snøhetta-designed, 224-key hotel will include a full-service restaurant, indoor-outdoor rooftop bar, and 3,000 square feet of onsite flexible meeting space all overseen by Abrous and Rose and their visionary approach to hospitality.

“We are excited and humbled to be partnering once again with our good friends Marc and Med on this monumental project,” said David Rochefort, Graduate Hotels President. “Their love and passion for New York City, combined with their talent for creating innovative and inspiring food and beverage destinations, will give New Yorkers and visitors a new perspective of Roosevelt Island for years to come.”
During the November 12, 2019 Roosevelt Island Cornell Tech Community & Construction Task Force meeting, Graduate Hotel President David Rochefort presented an overview of the project including the rooftop bar and restaurant saying:
... It's going to be a restaurant style seating with a lot of soft seating in terms of couches and comfortable chairs. We invite people to turn that into their living room and really stay there for a long time.

In terms of menu items, we'll have hamburgers and super approachable everyday food. We hope that people will not be afraid to come multiple times a week that's kind of always our goal. You can get something different each time you come - two to three times a week.

Most likely We'll be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner...
