Roosevelt Island Black History Month Celebration - Music, Dance, Readings and Refreshments, A Great Day Was Had By All
Barbara Parker & Bernard Dove Dance Performance at Roosevelt Island Black History Month Celebration
Roosevelt Island Black History Month Celebration took place Saturday afternoon at the Seniors Center. It was a wonderful event organized by the Roosevelt Island Seniors Association together with the Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC) which featured music and dance performances by residents as well as historic readings and remembrances about the Tuskegee Airmen, Etta James, Meta Vaux Warrick Fuller and Whitney Houston.
Roosevelt Island Seniors Association President Delores Green did her usual fantastic job as master of ceremonies. Among the terrific performers were Rasheedah Ali, June Terry, Linda Hudson, Bettie Lowhar, Rebecca Simeon, Douglas Cherry, Harold Thomas, Vickie Feinmel, Matt Katz, Barbara Parker & Bernand Dove.
Below is the program from the event.
I missed about half of the festivities but arrived in time for this terrific blues piano performance by Linda Hudson,

and a wonderful dance duet by Barbara Parker and Bernard Dove as well as some personal remembrances.
Then came the party with food and drink.
