... the sort of political edifice that the Italian fascists loved and Speer perfected for the glory of the Third Reich... The site itself is treated heartlessly. What was a modest, picturesquely rugged shoreline has been disciplined to straight lines and symetrical angles that have no significance beyond the alarming one of man's ability to impose a meaningless geometry on nature. The ultimate irony is that Roosevelt, who fought totalitarians to the death, is commemorated in the harsh style propogated by the dictators. Here's the panoramic view of NYC skyline and East River Waterfront that will be forever ruined if Kahn design is built at Southpoint Park. It is also an enormous waste of public taxpayer money.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. The place only needs to be as good as the most ordinary neighborhood sushi bar in Manhattan to be the best food option on the island. The menu looks normal!
Is this a branch of an existing restaurant?
I have been told that it is under the same ownership as China One.
that's so cruel.
looks like i'll still be heading to katagiri for my take-home sushi, then :P
very impressed by the new restaurant. great service, good food and amazing decor. great date place.
it is the same owner as china one but he owns a upscale successful japanese place in astoria. he actually tried to make china one more authentic and upscale many years back but he didn't do enough business, so he went back to take out!
we were worried about what that would mean for this place, but he's done a very nice job!
overpriced and a culinary disapointment. the sushi rice is all wrong and tastes awful, broth for soups is too salty. service was slow and confused. i'll stick to getting quality sushi at a reasonable price in the city. go figure - it's owned by the same people as the mediocre chinese restaurant.
It's the Roosevelt Island rule, once again.
I had the same issue with the rice -- soggy and just plain bad. I'll give them another shot (because you basically have to on this terrible island). I can't wait to move off this place.
Can't wait for you to go!
I had a great meal here, dunno what y'all are talking about - great decor, excellent food, at a reasonable price. Y'all are some grumpy individuals!
Normal place, reasonable food.
A bit overpriced in my opinion.
Good thing is a takeout
