Winter will soon be here. It is starting to get cold on Roosevelt Island and the rest of New York City. If you have a warm winter coat that will not be used, please consider donating it to the New York Cares Roosevelt Island Winter Coat drive.
Roosevelt Island Public Safety Director Keith Guerra reports:
THE PUBLIC SAFETY DEPARTMENT WILL AGAIN BECoats can also be donated at the Riverwalk Bar & Grill in Southtown.
HOSTING THE ANNUAL COAT DRIVE.
THIS PROGRAM HAS BROUGHT WARMTH TO MANY OF THE
NEEDY DURING OUR FRIGID WINTERS.
IT IS WITH THIS THOUGHT IN MIND THAT WE ASK
ROOSEVELT ISLANDERS TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AGAIN.
LAST YEAR A TOTAL OF 475 COATS WERE DONATED.
WE LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR CONTINUED GENEROSITY.
DONATED COATS WILL BE ACCEPTED

That's a very nice gesture. I brought down 2 coats to Public Safety myself, and was assured they would go to someone in need.
