Last week Gallery RIVAA celebrated its 11th Anniversary. Roosevelt Island resident David Stone attended and shares this brief tour of the festivities.

There's also a new exhibit at the Octagon Gallery (888 Main Street) - a collection of Buddhist Mandalas from Nepal opening today.

For those unfamiliar with Buddhist art annd beliefs, the imagery, symbolism and references were unintelligible. Perhaps an information sheet listing key images and their relation to Buddhist thought could be prepared and laminated so viewers can consult it while gazing at the works.
Perhaps someone will give a talk about the themes of the works.
