RIOC Car Parked On Sidewalk In Front Of Sportspark Making Pathway More Difficult For Wheelchair User - Would Roosevelt Island Resident Or Visitor Be Allowed To Park On Sidewalk Without Getting Ticket?
A Roosevelt Island resident reports spotting a Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC) vehicle parked on the sidewalk in front of the Sportspark facility today and shares these phtotos.
I asked RIOC Public Information Officer Alonza Robertson:
A resident sent these pictures today of RIOC car parked on sidewalk near Sportspark.Mr Robertson replied:
I am told this happens very often. Not a one time occurrence.
Also, the person who reported it said the health care attendant pushing lady in wheelchair was upset that the car was blocking their path on sidewalk.
Would a resident or visitor be allowed to park on sidewalk without getting a ticket?
If your answer is no, then why is Rioc parking on sidewalk. Same rules should apply.
Maybe there is a good reason. That’s why I am asking.
Thank you and your reader for bringing this to our attention. We will address this matter internally. How RIOC will address this matter is not disclosed.
