Are there any close by alternatives to buy a Christmas tree? I really hate supporting the boy scouts considering the organization's attitude toward gay people.
I was thinking to get one on the Upper East Side and bring it over with the tram. Would the tram staff allow me to do that?
thereis a christmas tree stand on 72nd and second. i don't know if they will allow you to bring a very large tree on the tram though I imagine if it is not crowded there should not be a problem.

I really recommend the tree stand between 62nd and 63rd Sts and 2nd Ave. They had freshly cut trees the day before Christmas! A small 4' tree was just $25. I tried to buy a tree from the boyscouts but they were pretty much out of anything.
It was no problem to get the tree home via tram and red bus. I assume it would be a little more difficult with a taller tree.
You are looking at the 2007 Christmas Tree schedule instead of 2009 which has current dates.
