Will they ever finish this nonsense? Why are they doing this? What kind of explanation could be possible for this constant abuse of the residents of the this Island? A lot of people would like to know!!

As I understand it, they're working on station rehab and connection for the new T train on Second Avenue. Likely the closures will stop once the line is opened. There may also be some work for the LIRR tracks under the subway lines.

Closures will likely start again on the next weekend, as they begin repairs and maintenance.

I've heard the new subway line is not happening until 2016. If that's the case does that mean we can expect weekend disruptions until then?

You can keep up with progress updates at:

http://www.mta.info/capconstr/sas/construction.html

You can also contact Jessica Nepomiachi, Community Liaison for the 96th Street Station Area, via email at Jessica.Nepomiachi@2avesubway.com or after hours at (212) 792 9716. She can direct you to the correct person for the 63rd st area (I still get the 96th St updates because I used to live there and never changed my preferences).
