The Roosevelt Island 2014 Summer Outdoor Movie Series continues tonight with The Hobbit:Desolation of Smaug.

According to the Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC):

This Saturday, August 9th, the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation presents the fifth film in the Roosevelt Island Outdoor Summer Movie Series: The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug! Join us on Firefighter's Field at 7 PM for music, film trivia and night of movie fun under the stars. Food and drink will be available for purchase, bring a blanket or lawn chair.

Also, don't miss the final screening in the series: On Saturday, August 23rd, RIOC will present a showing of the James Bond movie Goldfinger, as well as a unique short film shot on Roosevelt Island that showcases local talent: A Necessary Music. We hope to see you there!

which forced the moving of Marvel's: The Avengers from Southpoint Park to Firefighters Field. Don't know if there is still a power issue at Southpoint Park or if RIOC decided to change the outdoor movie site for other reasons.
