The South Cabin is temporary out of service. The north Cabin is unaffected .I inquired of Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC) Vice President of Operations Fernando Martinez:
The South Tram Cabin has been experiencing difficulty recently with several service advisories issues regarding disruption in service.Mr. Martinez replied:
What is the problem?
During the recent heat wave, the mechanical rooms became extremely hot. We ran the Tram at reduced capacity in order not to over work the motors. The disruption of service on the South Tram was due to a part failure. The part was immediately replaced and tested, and the Tram was returned to service.

Does anyone know at RIOC that with the new and top of the line computer system that the Tram has it is important to keep the computer room COLD or the computers will shut down? I think someone needs to school them in the world of main frame computers and the enviroment that is need to run one. Over time if you do not keep the system and computers cool they will stop working all together. Did noboy from POMA tell them this? Maybe not, then RIOC might have to buy all new computers. You guys need an IT guy RIOC! LOL! REally, you did not know that?
None of the computer systems are located in the machine room.
maybe the inside of the tram car should be air condtiononed as well, I do not know how those guys are allowed to were long black pants and those dark red polyester shirts...RIOC should put them in shorts and short sleeve white cotton shirts before they pass out!
More evidence of $25 million well spent...
