Red Tail Hawk Returns To Roosevelt Island Looking For Breakfast- New York City Blizzard No Roadblock

Eagle eyed Roosevelt Island Historical Society President Judy Berdy reports:

Our island hawk returned to my neighbors terrace at Rivercross this morning about 8:30 a.m. He stayed (or she) for about 20 minutes.

He did not cooperate by moving to better light and showing off his tail. He seemed to be happy perched on the 17th floor terrace facing east.

He left to fly off for a good breakfast of Squirrel.

UPDATE 12/29 - The Hawk returned later yesterday afternoon. Must have found a good breakfast on Roosevelt Island.

This is for the Birds!!!!!He sat there 30 minutes and refused to turn around........BIRD BRAIN.

He is scouting a good squirrel for dinner

In 2007 a Red Tail Hawk thought to be the progeny of Central Park West's Pale Male was spotted at Capobianco Field. At the time NY Magazine suggested this was an example of generational downward mobility.

Has Descendant of Pale Male Found a Home on Roosevelt Island?

The Main Street Wire published the above photograph of a red-tailed hawk at Capobianco Field on Roosevelt Island taken on Sunday, September 2. It is speculated that the hawk could be a descendant of the famous Pale Male who resides on Fifth Avenue and dines in Central Park.
