Legendary Subway Inn Dive Bar Opening Soon Opposite Roosevelt Island Tram Station - Neon Sign Up, Bar Opening Soon

Good news for Roosevelt Island Dive Bar patrons. The legendary Subway Inn, formerly at 59th & Lexington, is soon to open opposite the Roosevelt Island Manhattan Tram Station at 2nd Avenue & 60th Street.

According to the Roosevelt Island Twitterverse:


NY Eater reports:
... The well-loved neighborhood dive was kicked out of its 77-year-old home by developers last year, and its owners, the Salinas family, have been gradually moving everything over to the new location and documenting it all on Facebook. The booths? They're in place. The restored bar? It's there too. As for that sign, the owners promise, "yes, that is the exact same neon sign....

Legendary NYC Dive Bar Subway Inn Moving Close To Roosevelt Island - Directly Across From Manhattan Tram Station

Great News for Roosevelt Island dive bar drinkers.


The NY Post reports today:
Subway Inn lovers, rejoice!
The beloved dive bar has found a new home two blocks east. The grungy but cozy tavern, forced out of its longtime home at 143 E. 60th St. by a new development, has signed a lease at 1140 Second Ave., a storefront now occupied by the Blue Room sports bar....
According to Gothamist:
... The Salinas family have signed a lease at 1140 Second Avenue, according to the Post, taking over the Blue Room bar space right next to the Queensboro Bridge entrance and the Roosevelt Island Tram...
Bloomberg adds
... “The space will look exactly the same,” Salinas wrote. “Colors, floor and all! In fact, our replication architect is hard at work making sure our new home will be nearly identical.”...
Here's the soon to be new home of the Subway Inn right across the street from the Roosevelt Island Tram Manhattan Station.
