You're Invited To Motorgate Gallery Opening Reception For Roosevelt Island 2017 Fall For Arts Festival Murals Exhibit Tomorrow Evening March 28 - Jazz & Light Refreshments Too

The Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC) and Gallery RIVAA will host an opening reception for the new exhibit of Fall For Arts Festival Murals at the Motorgate Gallery tomorrow evening.

According to RIOC:

You are cordially invited to attend the 2018 Motorgate Gallery Opening. The event will take place at the Motorgate Garage Atrium (688 Main St.) on Wed., March 28th from 6:30 - 8:30 PM. Come and celebrate the addition of new murals painted at the 2017 Fall for Arts Festival to the Gallery's collection!

The Gallery opening is sponsored and curated by the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation and the Roosevelt Island Visual Art Association (RIVAA). The Jazz Salonists will provide live entertainment. Drinks and light refreshments will be available. This is a free event.

The gallery opening will feature artists’ interpretations of how their work relates to last year’s festival theme: “Relentless Rhythm: City in Motion”; live music from The Jazz Salonists and refreshments. This is a free event.

The Fall for Arts Festival, now entering its 13th year, is an annual Roosevelt Island event that invites artists – children and adults - to participate in the day- long mural and crafts festival set to a pre-determined theme. Participation in the event is free; as are all basic paints, brushes and primed painting surfaces. Winning murals will hang in the garage atrium for one year.

The 2018 Fall for Art Festival on the island will be held September 29, 2018.

A wonderful Roosevelt Island event returns this weekend. The annual Roosevelt Island Fall For Arts Festival is scheduled for Saturday September 23.

Join us Sat., September 23rd for a free, family-friendly day of art & music at the 2017 Fall for Arts Festival, 11 AM - 4 PM, with a live music performance in Southpoint Park from 4 - 6 PM. Bring your family and friends for an amazing, fun filled day of an artistic showcase of painting, free make-and-take art workshops, face painting and henna designs, and a variety of classes and performances.

The Fall for Arts Festival will take place at Southpoint Park (south of Tram Plaza), on the Lawn South of Rivercross (south of 505 Main Street), and Gallery RIVAA (527 Main Street), with additional activities in Four Freedoms Park.

2017 Roosevelt Island Fall For Arts Festival September 23 - RIOC Seeking Artists To Paint Outdoor Murals Depicting Theme Of Relentless Motion: City In Motion

The annual Roosevelt Island Fall For Arts Festival is scheduled for Saturday September 23. According to the Roosevelt Island Operating Corp:

CALL FOR ARTISTS

On Saturday, September 23rd, 2017, the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation will present the annual Fall for Arts Festival on Roosevelt Island. Through the years, this celebration of creativity and the changing seasons has become a much-loved tradition for children and adults alike. One of the event’s most well-loved traditions is a combination of performance and traditional arts through the outdoor artwork creation: the making of free-standing murals during the Festival.

We are seeking artists or groups to each paint one of several 6-by-8-foot and 6-by-16-foot murals outdoors during the Festival, which will be held from 11 AM – 4 PM on the lawn south of 531 Main St. Artists are free to arrange an earlier time to begin their work, if needed.

This year, our theme is “Relentless Rhythm: City in Motion”. We are looking for fine artists to create works of art that reflect the evolution and movement we see around us on a day-to-day basis.

How to Apply: We invite you to submit a sketch of your design or any inquiries along with a title and short description of the concept and technical method. Sketches should be sized according to a 6’ x 8’ or 6’ x 16’ ratio and submitted in jpeg, PDF or hard copy format. Please submit your sketches no later than Friday, September 8th to jessica.murray@rioc.ny.gov.

Participation in this event is free; basic paints, brushes, and a primed surface are provided! All participating artists will also receive a free festival t-shirt. Once complete, murals will stay on display on the lawn for several weeks. Once removed from the lawn, selected works will be displayed at the Island’s Motorgate Atrium Gallery through February 2019.

All artwork will remain the property of the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation and may be displayed on Roosevelt Island to beautify the community in the future.
