6 Roosevelt Island Baby Ducklings Trapped Down Cornell Tech Campus Drain Rescued Yesterday By Wildlife Freedom Foundation And FDNY - Returned To Mom And Last Seen Paddling In East River

Roosevelt Island resident Rossana Ceruzzi is founder and President of the Wildlife Freedom Foundation (WFF). Ms Ceruzzi reports:

The Wildlife Freedom Foundation got a phone call from Roosevelt Island Public Safety Department yesterday afternoon. A good Samaritan whose name is Georgiana, called for help. Six ducklings were stuck down a drain near Cornell Campus. Momma duck was in the river with the seventh one.

WFF went to the rescue!!



We got three out while waiting for the FDNY to come to pull the heavy grate up. And They came quickly!!

More good news!!



We were able to give back all the babies to mom who was in the river further south resting on a rock.

Tugboat Pulls Big Inflatable Duck Past Roosevelt Island Underneath Queensboro Bridge On East River Today - Did You See It?

Last month a giant rubber duck was spotted floating in Hong Kong's Victoria Harbor leading some wishing for a NYC East River visit:

East River Ducks Exploring Roosevelt Island - No Aggressive Tendencies Shown By The Ducks But Watch Out For The Geese

Have you seen any East River ducks coming ashore and waddling around Roosevelt Island recently?  In the past few days, I've noticed ducks on the West Channel Road being fed by passersby

and following others on the Riverwalk Commons.

Fortunately, our Roosevelt Island ducks have not exhibited any aggressive actions toward people but watch out for the geese.

Roosevelt Island Ducks Making Their Way Home Last Night In Southtown

Not only were residents of Roosevelt Island's Southtown Riverwalk Buildings making their way home last evening but

so were a couple of ducks

as they managed to cross the street

and avoid oncoming traffic

before settling in for the evening.
