Take A Look At The Retired Concorde Supersonic Airplane Being Refurbished At The Brooklyn Navy Yard, Only A 27 Minute NYC Ferry Ride From Roosevelt Island

After getting off the NYC Ferry yesterday from Roosevelt Island, I was surprised  to see the retired British Airways Concorde supersonic airplane

at the Brooklyn Navy Yard dock.

The Concorde is getting a facelift at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. After being stripped down, sanded and repainted the Concorde will be returned to its home at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum on the Hudson River.

US Marine Osprey Aircraft Spotted Flying Over East River And Roosevelt Island Today

Just saw two USMC ospreys flying down the east river. That is the first time I every saw them fly in person. They are loud but super cool to see.

The two Marine Osprey aircraft were spotted flying over the East River this afternoon from Roosevelt Island too.

I'm so glad you got this picture. I was really wondering about these planes as they flew by our place. What was particularly striking was that they were clearly flying in close formation as your photo clearly shows

It will replace the Corps' aged fleet of CH-46E and CH-53D medium lift helicopters.

Low Flying Plane Over Roosevelt Island Barely Makes it Over Queensboro Bridge This Morning - Is That Normal?

Roosevelt Island Operating Corp. (RIOC) Director Jonathan Kalkin tweeted this morning:

Anyone else see a small plane almost hit the Queensboro bridge while flying over Roosevelt Island 1 hour ago

Mr. Kalkin adds:

I was facing the bridge near the tram station and saw the small plane flying toward the lower level of the Queensboro bridge over Roosevelt Island. At the last second it went up and over it. It barely made it over. I don't know if that is normal, but it seemed very close.

I did not see the low flying plane today but I frequently do see seaplanes flying pretty low and close to the Queensboro Bridge and Riverwalk Buildings.

US Air Force Flying Over Roosevelt Island

Flying Up and Down the East River

When I am boarding a plane returning home to New York City via LaGuardia Airport, I hope to be on the side of the plane with the stunning views of Manhattan skyline and to glimpse my building on Roosevelt Island. More often than not, I'm on the wrong side of the plane. For those of us on the wrong side of the plane this video is for you - a trip up and down the East River corridor in a small plane with Neil Diamond.
