Parents and Guardians,

Sorry for the change, but we will postpone until 4PM today

We will still meet at (Firefighters field) at 4PM

Hope to see everyone there.

Get out those rain boots! It will be a messy (and memorable) egg hunt!
UPDATE 7:20 PM - After a few hours delay due to the rain earlier this morning the Roosevelt Island Egg Hunt took place with approximately 500 families taking part.

Here are some scenes.

After the rush to pick up as many eggs as possible, I witnessed a very nice act of kindness by one young Roosevelt Islander. A boy named Matthew learned that a friend was upset because she was not able to get many eggs. Matthew took some of the eggs in his basket and slipped them into his friend's basket - Well done Matthew!

Roosevelt Island Hope Church Hosting Free Summer Festival Sunday July 9 - You're Invited To Neighborhood Party At Good Shepherd Plaza For Food, Carnival Games, Dunk Tank & Water Balloon Fight

Roosevelt Island Hope Church is hosting a free summer festival and all members of the Roosevelt Island community are invited to attend. According to Roosevelt Island Hope Church Pastor Dan Sadlier:
At Hope we believe that our neighborhood, as well as our city is only as good as the next generation. If the next generation is thriving emotionally, physically, socially, and spiritually than usually the overall community is as well. This is why investing in the next generation (Birth-25yrs) is one of our largest priorities at Hope Church. This happens throughout the year in various ways, from our weekly kids programming every Sunday at 4:30PM, to social events, mentoring programs, retreats, and global trips. We want Hope Church to be a people and a place where Roosevelt Island kids, as well as youth living around the city can flourish, having a community of peers and adults supporting, encouraging, and empowering them every step of the way.

This Sunday is another one of those moments where we have planned an event for all of Roosevelt Island, but with families and their children especially on our minds.

Join us for our first summer family fest immediately following our 4:30PM service. We will be throwing a neighborhood party in the Chapel square. The family fest includes live music, a community wide meal, carnival games, and a dunk tank. You won’t want to miss it! In addition registration for the island’s largest water balloon fight will begin at 4:15PM just before our Sunday family friendly service. All activities are free to the community. If you haven't yet had the chance to experience a Hope service this would be the perfect summer weekend.

Low Cost Meals For Roosevelt Island Residents From Family Table Food Ministries Provided By Hope Church Roosevelt Island - December Menu Now Available, Orders Must Be Placed By December 10

Roosevelt Island resident Jim Bates reports on a new low cost food buying option for Roosevelt Islanders.

I have now assumed the role of contact person for Family Table Food Ministries on Roosevelt Island provided by Hope Church Roosevelt Island.
The way the service works is that once a month a menu is distributed with a deadline for ordering and a pick up location at the Seniors Center (546 Main Street). The December menu is located below and includes pricing as well as item information.

According to Family Table Food Ministries:
Our Mission is to partner with churches, companies and civic-minded Host Sites to provide families and individuals with affordable food and to make a difference in your community, one food box at a time.

Regardless of our income level, most of us are searching for value and money saving ideas to stretch our food dollars at home. The family food budget is one of the largest costs in a household. Our food boxes offer a unique solution to cutting household costs without sacrificing food quality.

How It Works

Family Table Food Ministries puts together a menu each month designed to feed a family of four for a week, or a single individual for nearly a month. We then sell the items as a monthly food box at a deeply discounted price. These food boxes are not a hand-out but an opportunity for those who want to stretch their dollar. Our boxes can contain over 20 lbs of nutritious, top quality food and may include beef, chicken, seafood, sometimes pork, vegetables, fruit, snack items, juices and other items....
Here's what's included in the December Family Box For $38

and the rest of the December  Menu.

The delivery distribution date for December orders is December 21. Orders must be submitted by December 10. Click here to order online or call in person 347-985-7540.
