Animal Care Centers (ACC) of NYC is hosting a Mobile Adoption Event on Roosevelt Island Saturday November 2 at Good Shepherd Plaza from 12- 4 PM.

According to ACC:

Looking for a new four-legged friend? We're happy to be hosting and Adoption Event with some incredible cats, dogs and rabbits from ACC. We hope you'll stop by to meet some Boroughreds.

Adorable Roosevelt Island Kittens For Adoption From Wildlife Freedom Foundation - Maybe Get A High Five

Kitten # 1

This is Ambra (for her gorgeous amber coloring)

7 months old female kitten. She was abandoned by her owner/s and found starving and crying. She is in a temporary foster home until she finds her forever loving family. Ambra has been spayed, vaccinated and tested. She is very well behaved and super affectionate (as all orange tabbies are known to be). And, as you can see from the photos, she is absolutely beautiful!

Kittens # 2-3

These are Silver and Kikko,

3 months old males, neutered, vaccinated, healthy, a little bit shy but absolutely playful and adorable! Silver and Kikko are siblings and very attached to each other (as you can see from the picture) so they will not be adopted separately. Do you wish to have a blessing said over your pet? If so, no need to go to the Cathedral of St. John the Divine when you can have it done right here on Roosevelt Island. I received the following message from Roosevelt Island resident Francine Lange:

Church of the Good Shepherd, the Episcopal church, will be holding its annual Blessing of the Animals service this Sunday, October 3.

Pastor Lew Johnson will say a special blessing over your pet(s). You can carry it in your arms, lead it on a leash or in a carrier, or bring a photo.

At 10:00 a.m., 543 Main St., Church of the Good Shepherd, Roosevelt Island.

Charlie was dumped at birth on the side of the road in the Bronx. A Roosevelt Island resident adopted him and now, some five years later, he reigns in peace over his Island House "kingdom."

I wonder if there are any Roosevelt Island llamas or other unusual animals out there to be blessed with Charlie the Cat.

Roosevelt Island Cat Adoption Day Saturday October 17 At The Motorgate Garage From 11 AM - 2 PM

I saw this notice up on the Starbucks bulletin board regarding Roosevelt Island Cat Adoption Day being sponsored by Island Cats. If you want to adopt a cat, head on over to the Motorgate Plaza next to Gristedes on Saturday October 17 between 11 AM and 2 PM.

The Roosevelt Island Princess YinYang Project (RIPYY) was formed in 2005 to help cats abandoned on Roosevelt Island find homes or live in managed Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) colonies on the Island. Ann Hallowell and Rossana Ceruzzi have agreed to act as consultants.

RIPYY was formed after the death of the small black-and-white cat – to some “Princess” and to others “Yin Yang” – who lived for years in bushes near the subway and enchanted passersby with her curiosity and delight in everything from her own bowl of Costco dry food to tumbling in high snowdrifts. She died in September 2004 when a marauding stray finally drove her into the path of a truck...
