Sponsored Post - Happy Holidays From Roosevelt Island Yoga + Barre + Wellness Studio Island Om - Our Mission Is To Create An Oasis Of Wellness Away From Your Everyday Hectic Life

Island Om’s mission is to create an oasis of wellness away from your everyday hectic life, a place to find your OM. Wellness is as necessary as water or air — without it, we burn out and we weaken our immune systems. In life there needs to be a balance to find that centered wellness: Yin and Yang, Shiva and Shakti, Fire and Water. Island Om taps into not only the natural elements that surround us, but the truism that One can not exist without the Other — and we follow this philosophy to help all of our students find their Om.

ABOUT

Island Om is the first Wellness Studio opening on Roosevelt Island, in the heart of Main Street! Nestled between two major islands and only one subway/tram/ferry ride away from Manhattan/LIC/Astoria, Island Om is here to motivate, inspire, uplift and empower our students. Our founder, Jax Schott, has taught for all demographics in the wellness world and is excited to bring wellness classes to Roosevelt Island as diverse as the community. We welcome ALL students to become part of our Roosevelt Island Family.

CLASSES

Island Om offers the fierceness and high energy of the Barre and Sculpt workouts with the softer, more fluid, yet grounding energy of the Yoga Room. In between those energies are classes and workshops that support an individual’s needs throughout one’s life: Meditation, Childbirth Education, Therapeutic services, Nutrition, Creative Workshops, Family classes and Events.

Island Om’s teaching approach is to connect with our students so that we can meet their specific needs within a group class. Our instructors pay specific attention to alignment so that you will be able to grow and flourish in your own personal practice. You will have the opportunity to take classes not just from different teachers, but from teachers with different styles and backgrounds. All of our classes are meant to support and inspire in a non-competitive way — and it’s amazing to see the connections made among our regular students! Not only will you find your OM, but you will feel at hOMe once you arrive.

Check out the Island Om schedule of classes.

Come visit us. Our studio is at 521 Main Street, Roosevelt Island.

Roosevelt Island Resident Jax Schott Opening Island Om Wellness & Yoga Studio On Main Street Tomorrow, October 2 - Offering A Range Of Classes For All Ages And Skill Levels

In March 2019, Roosevelt Island Main Street Retail Master leaseholder Hudson Related announced that local resident Jax Schott signed a lease to open Island Om, a 1,975 square foot Yoga Studio and Wellness Center, in the Rivercross building at 521 Main Street. Island Om hoped to open in Fall 2019 but there were delays and then the Coronavirus Pandemic shutdown causing more delays.

Today, the finishing touches on the new Island Om Wellness & Yoga studio were being completed

for tomorrow's opening day.

According to this press release from Hudson Related:

Hudson Related Retail announced today the opening of Island OM, the first wellness studio on Roosevelt Island. Located at 521 Main Street at Shops on Main, Island OM will offer a range of classes for students of all ages and skill levels, including yoga, barre, sculpt workouts and meditation, plus workshops covering childbirth education, therapeutic services and nutrition.

Island OM founder and Roosevelt Island resident, Jax Schott, has extensive experience teaching all demographics a variety of classes rooted in wellness. Island OM will operate with two studios, one dedicated to yoga, meditation and special wellness workshops while the other will be for barre and strength-based classes.

“Island OM is a wonderful new amenity on Roosevelt Island, providing wellness and healing opportunities for anyone, from beginners to experienced students,” said David Kramer, President of Hudson Companies. “With its diverse selection of retail offerings, Shops on Main has become a lively destination for Roosevelt Islanders and New Yorkers, and Island OM is a perfect addition to that well-curated mix.”

"Creating Island OM has been a dream and a vision for many years and getting to Opening Day has been long awaited and eagerly anticipated, by not just me and my family, but also the Roosevelt Island Community as shown by the support and enthusiasm from our students and residents,” said Jax Schott, Owner of Island OM. “I'm thrilled to finally be opening our doors and welcoming everyone into our beautiful new space where they can find their hOMe at Island OM! After the past 18+ months when many individuals have been living and working from their homes, my hope is for Island OM to be their Wellness Oasis where they can visit and focus on their own holistic well-being.”

Island OM embraces a teaching approach that focuses on connecting one-on-one with students to meet their specific needs within a class. Instructors at Island OM have different styles and backgrounds but pay specific attention to alignment to ensure students can grow in their own practice. All classes at Island OM are non-competitive and are designed to inspire students to be supportive of one another.

Island OM will host a 45-minute sunset yoga class at The Sanctuary on Roosevelt Island on Sunday, October 3 at 5:00pm. The class will be followed by signature cocktail drinks, giving students an opportunity to practice their skills while introducing them to the Roosevelt Island yoga community. Ahead of Island OM’s grand opening, Jax Schott hosted a free outdoor class on the Meditation Lawn on September 25 in conjunction with Roosevelt Island’s Fall for Arts Festival.

The opening of Island OM introduces the first-of-its-kind dedicated wellness space to Roosevelt Island, adding to the diverse array of businesses currently operating on Main Street. Eclectic eateries include Nisi, Liukoushui Hot Pot Noodle, Bread + Butter Market, China 1 Kitchen and more. Shops on Main is also home to a variety of service providers, from pet care service Pup Culture to Roosevelt Island Cleaners, Roosevelt Nails and Fusion Salon. Shops on Main has a significant cultural presence as well with Gallery RIVAA and The Main Street Theatre & Dance Alliance.

In September 2020, I spoke with Jax Schott after she finished a class on the Rivercross Lawn.  Ms. Schott described her outdoor Yoga classes and plans for new indoor Yoga Studio & Wellness Center which she anticipated opening last winter but is finally opening tomorrow.

Good luck to Ms Schott on her new business.

Meet Jax Schott, Roosevelt Island Resident And Island Om Yoga Studio Owner Opening This Winter - Teaching Outdoor Yoga Classes Now

In March 2019, Roosevelt Island Main Street Retail Master leaseholder Hudson Related announced that local resident Jax Shott signed a lease to open Island Om, a 1,975 square foot Yoga Studio and Wellness Center, in the Rivercross building at 521 Main Street. Island Om hoped to open in Fall 2019 but there were delays and then the Coronavirus Pandemic shutdown causing more delays.

In the meantime, Ms Shott has been teaching Yoga Classes outdoors at various Roosevelt Island locations.

Sanskrit Saturday! Utkatasana - Thunderbolt Pose,” or “Powerful Pose.” Its Sanskrit name comes from the words “utkata” (meaning “powerful” or “fierce”) and “asana” (meaning “pose”). We had a beautiful turnout with the @rivercrossnyc community, who showed up once again, strong & fierce for a special Yoga class on the River. As yesterday marked the 19th anniversary of the tragic events of 9/11, we were reminded that even though we are once again in unprecedented times, we can rise from the darkness and shine our light when surrounded by community. @mstda_ri had little ballerinas & Capoiera adjacent from us, and all I kept thinking of is how alive the Island is, on multi levels, multi generations, we represent strength, community, and light thru these uncertain times! #utkatasana #sanskritsaturday #fiercecommunity #yogaeverydamnday #yogaflow #yogaglow #keeponmoving #mstdakeepsmoving #outdoorclasses #socialdistancing #nystrong #yogastrong #yogapractice #yogaposes #yogateacher #rooseveltislandlove @rooseveltislandlove @rooseveltislander @roosevelt_island_fan_page

Coming this fall, Roosevelt Island will have a Yoga Studio on Main Street

Hudson Related  Retail announced today signing lease for a 1975 square foot Yoga Studio at 521 Main Street in the Rivercross Building to Roosevelt Island resident Jax Schott.

That's a very big space on Main Street. Don't know how much Hudson Related is charging for rent.

According to this Hudson Related Retail press release"
Hudson Related Retail LLC today announced the signing of Island OM, a new yoga and fitness studio, to a 10-year, 1,925-square foot lease at 521 Main Street, located at the Shops on Main. The addition of Island OM will add to the growing, eclectic mix of storefronts on Roosevelt Island. Island OM is expected to open in fall of 2019 at Shops on Main. Island OM will offer a range classes including yoga for yogis of all experience levels—including mother and baby classes and classes for kids—as well as barre classes. Island OM will also offer meditation and eventually wellness workshops and holistic healing modalities.

“Hudson Related Retail LLC is pleased to have entered into a lease agreement with Island OM for 521 Main Street,” said Alex Kaplan, Project Manager at The Hudson Companies. “Jax Schott, Island OM’s owner, is an Island resident and yoga and fitness instructor with an existing following and we are excited to see Jax take her business to the next level. Through the yoga and barre classes offered, the studio will have something for everybody on the Island.”

“I have been a teacher for 13 years, expanding my knowledge and expertise in healing and wellness for all,” said Jax Schott, owner of Island OM. “I have lived on Roosevelt Island for over 10.5 years, and started teaching almost 10 years ago when my first child was born. It’s a beautiful & diverse community that has inspired me to be a better teacher, create innovative classes, and share a part of me to connect with any student that comes to my class. Island OM will be a hOMe for wellness and an oasis from your everyday life.”

Jorge L. Jorge of Lisa Management represented both Hudson Related Retail LLC and Island OM in the deal. Shops on Main also features a salon, dry cleaner, wine shop, diner and Chinese restaurant, all of which add to the variety of retail along the corridor.

In March of 2018, Lisa Management, the property management arm of The Hudson Companies, Inc, took over all marketing and leasing for the remaining available storefront at the Shops on Main retail corridor. Since then, Lisa Management has signed two new retail tenants: the forthcoming Liukoshui hot pot restaurant and PupCulture pet care and spa service.
With a little practice, maybe you can do this.
