Roosevelt Island Resident And Public Relations Expert Janet Falk Writes Lyrics For NPR Ask Me Anything Trivia Game - How Well Did You Play G-L-O-R-I-A?

Reported last year that Roosevelt Island resident and Public Relations expert Janet Falk

 Image from Falk Communications

was a contestant on a NPR trivia game show with her daughter. Ms. Falk reports today that she recently wrote a trivia game for NPR's Ask Me Another program. According to Ms. Falk:
G-L-O-R-I-A

My Game on NPR

You may have heard I was a contestant on Ask Me Another, the NPR trivia game show, in April 2014.

Perhaps you know one of my talents is re-writing the lyrics of popular songs, usually to celebrate the milestone birthday or anniversary of a family member.

You can hear the game I wrote based on the song Gloria, by Van Morrison. The guitarist of Ask Me Another, Jonathan Coulton, plays the melody and sings my revised lyrics. The contestants guess the name of the woman described -- and then sing and spell her name, like Van Morrison.

Listen to the segment or enjoy the entire show;...

Yes, I was paid for this game, but, more important, now I am a contributor to NPR; someday, that may be useful in my work as a Public Relations professional.

Please let me know how well you did playing the G-L-O-R-I-A game.
Here's the Spell My Name game created by Ms. Falk

Roosevelt Island Resident Sally Hamburger Appears On NPR's Sunday Word Puzzle Challenge - She Does Very Well

Janet Falk reports:
Roosevelt Island resident Sally Hamburger participated in the NPR puzzle broadcast on Sunday morning, March 22, at 8:40 am on WNYC.

Each week listeners are asked to solve a word challenge and a winner is selected to play a different word puzzle on the air.

Sally is a crossword puzzle enthusiast, so it was no surprise that she was one of 3,200 people who correctly solved the challenge.

Listen to how she did matching wits with Will Shortz and you can play along
The transcript is here.

Roosevelt Island Mom And Daughter Team Compete In NPR Ask Me Another Shaquille O'Neal Word Pun Triva Quiz With Hannibal Buress

Roosevelt Island resident Janet Falk reports on her recent appearance at NPR"S Ask Me Another radio quiz show program. Ms Falk and her daughter Rebecca Rindler were tested on their knowledge
of NBA legend Shaquille O'Neil and word pun skills in a game called

Shaq To The Future

According to Ms. Falk:

One in 1,000

My Moment of Fame on NPR

As a contestant on Ask Me Another, I joined an elite group of trivia-loving competitors.

I went head-to-head with my daughter Rebecca in a battle of the wits on my favorite radio show.

It was seven minutes of fame and butterflies-in-the-stomach-inducing glory in front of an audience of 200 envious bar patrons, each one wanting my place in the spotlight.

The activity was wordplay and involved Shaquille (Shaq) O'Neal.

How did I do?

Well enough that members of the audience cheered "Go, Janet!"

Listen to the segment starting at minute 6:00 -- or enjoy the entire show, which was broadcast on Saturday, April 11 at 3:00 pm in New York City.

Please let me know if you figure out one of the questions I did not get. It is easier when you're not in front of a microphone, of course.
The audio web cast of the show is here (starting at 6 minute mark)

and  transcript of the show is here.

Shaqtastic job Ms. Falk and Ms. Rindler!

Fun Times With Trivia Tryst At Roosevelt Island's Riverwalk Bar & Grill - RIRA Delegates Win Big

Last night was another fun time at the Riverwalk Bar & Grill Tuesday Trivia Tryst Night.

I must admit to feeling some frustration during the evening as my aging brain cells struggle to recall answers to trivia question hiding way, way, way deep inside my skull. Sometimes, the frustration is alleviated as an answer, even better, a correct answer, manages to find it's way out of my mouth and onto the answer sheet. A drink often helps - even if it's only Ginger Beer.

Anyway, last night's game was won by the team of Sphincter Wink composed of Manhattan Park RIRA delegates Ava and Joe together with their friends John and Skylar

and here's is their winning Trivia Tryst Award Slip.

Congratulations on your victory.

I am also happy to report that after an embarrassing last place finish the previous week, my team of me and B came in third of thirteen and got 10 bucks off our tab. Great job B!

Why not come by next Tuesday for Trivia Night and have some fun. Maybe former champs Crazy 8's will be there to challenge for the Trivia Title.
