RIRA’s annual Egg Hunt
took place on Saturday, April 1st. Even though it was very cold, Roosevelt Island families came out with their little ones in great number. We estimate that about 180 families joined us.
There were multiple activities organized by our sponsors, such as bonnet making, pitching contest, lollypop pull, gifts giveaways and Eggs on Hats crafts. MSTDA’s Children Theater was responsible for entertaining the crown with Seusical Jr performance, and RIRA gave away free books. Kids enjoyed playing and taking photos with Easter Bunny.
The event was a great success, thanks to many island organizations that contributed: MSTDA, Island Kids, Ps/is 217, RIVAA, Girl Scouts, Hope church, RICCD, NYPL Roosevelt Island Branch, RI Marlins, Wildlife Freedom Foundation, RISA, The Carter Burden Center for Aging, CERT, Piccolo Trattoria, Wholesome Factory, New York Bagels in Queens, Starbucks, Roosevelt Island Historical Society, Cornell Tech, Roosevelt Island Parents Network, Manhattan Park and RIOC.
Besides our sponsors, this event would not be possible without the residents of Roosevelt island that came out to volunteer their time in preparation and during the event. If anybody has any comments, wishes or suggestions you can email Irena Durkovic irenaskuletic@yahoo.com.
