Due To Heavy Snowfall RIOC Advises to Avoid Roosevelt Island Parks & Open Spaces Due To Possibility Of Falling Branches

Received the following snow advisory from RIOC:

The heavy snowfall has accumulated on the trees throughout Roosevelt Island thereby creating a potentially dangerous condition in the parks and open spaces. Please avoid such areas while the RIOC Grounds and Facilities crews complete their snow removal duties.
Please be careful - this is a serious warning. A man was killed yesterday by a falling tree branch as we was walking in Central Park. According to DNA Info:
CENTRAL PARK — A man was struck and killed by a falling tree limb as he was walking through Central Park during a snowstorm Thursday, police said.

Elmaz Qyra, 56, from Brooklyn, was struck by the branch from an elm tree near "Literary Way" in the park on E. 67th Street, near Fifth Avenue, according to police.

A 911 caller told authorities around 3:30 p.m that the man was sprawled on the ground with severe wounds to his head, officials told the New York Times. The man was declared dead at the scene, according to police....
