Sad News, Roosevelt Island Trellis Diner Counterman "Fast" Eddie Sallas Passed Away Last Night

Roosevelt Island Trellis Diner Counterman Eddie Sallas, affectionately known to his customers as "Fast Eddie" passed away last night. He worked at Trellis and was part of the Roosevelt Island community for over 15 years.

A long time resident wrote that Fast Eddie was:

... loved by us Islanders...
He will be greatly missed.

UPDATE 8/25 - Trellis Diner owner Alex Razaghi adds:
The Viewing and Burial will be Monday 8-26-13 starting from 9-11am at Dahill Funeral Home, 25-25 65th Street Brooklyn, NY 11204

11:30-12:30 at St. Constantine and Helen Church, 64 Schermehorn street Brooklyn, New York, 11201

Donations would be greatly appreciated by the family and will be collected at Trellis.

Directions via Train:

Take the F train from Roosevelt Island station heading Downtown / Coney Island get off at Avenue P, Start out going West on Avenue P towards 65th ST, Turn right onto 65th ST.

I am greatly saddened to read this. My condolences to his Family, friends and Trellis co-workers and to Kai. We have lost another great member of the Roosevelt Island Community.

Does anyone know what happened, are they putting a fund together? He lived and cared for his mother. This is so sad, he was such a lovely person with a good heart.

Can someone describe him? I forgot most of the guys names there except a couple.
Was he the tall white guy with glasses and a mustache?

So sad to hear this. He was such a lovely person who always had a nice word to say. Please keep us informed on any services that may be open to his extended RI family.

Oh what a shame. He was a great guy. He was great at his job. Always got my coffee right!. Great guy!
