During the October 28 Roosevelt Island Community Coalition (RICC) meeting, RICC Director Joyce Short raised the issue of Roosevelt Island recreational fields, including Firefighters Field, being dominated by Zog Sports and other outside groups so that the space is not available for use by Roosevelt Island kids. This is particularly true on weekends when Firefighters Field seems to be the playground for Zog players and nobody else.
UPDATE 11/10 - From the Twitterverse:
@eljhawk The objection is that the fields are reserved so often and that they are not available for kids and others to play spontaneously— Roosevelt Islander (@Rooseveltisland) November 9, 2015
@eljhawk Pick up baseball, softball,v-ball, frisbee, kite flying & other activities are unavailable when RI fields are reserved so often.— Roosevelt Islander (@Rooseveltisland) November 9, 2015
