We are working with FDNY to extinguish a track fire which caused a smoke condition in the 53 St Tube. We are experiencing significant delays along with multiple impacts in service on the A, C, E, F, J, M and R lines.— NYCT Subway (@NYCTSubway) March 6, 2020
According to the Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC) at 6:43 PM:
Due to FDNY activity inside South Point Park, all Southbound traffic is being temporarily rerouted West at the corner of East Loop Rd and North Loop Rd.And a RIOC update at 7:14:
Be advised that FDNY has completed their activity inside South Point Park and all Southbound traffic has been cleared to resume flowing normally.UPDATE 3/7 - Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC) Public Information Officer Terrence McCauley reports:
It was a precautionary measure. There was a fire in the subway off island and they went to access the substation here in case the situation got worse. It was out of an abundance of caution. The situation was quickly resolved.
