In response to my inquiry this morning, a NYPD spokesperson reported:

On Thursday May 4 approximately 9:38 PM at 579 Main Street, a male victim was slashed with a knife on his right arm, right thigh and head. 3 Suspects fled in a jeep. A motive is not known at this time and the incident is currently under investigation.

The Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC) announced via a 10:50 AM Advisory and Twitter:

On Thursday May 4th at approximately 9:40PM a person was assaulted with a knife inside the deli located at 579 Main Street. NYPD and PSD responded quickly to the location where they found a victim who was stabbed multiple times. The victim was taken to Cornell Hospital in stable condition. Subjects were unidentified by the deli workers and fled the scene prior to NYPD/PSD arrival in a dark Jeep Grand Cherokee that was parked in front of the deli. At this time, PSD & NYPD reports indicate this was a targeted incident and not a random act of violence.

Last Tuesday, May 2, during a Roosevelt Island Public Safety Community Engagement meeting, NYPD 114 Precinct Commander Deputy Inspector Kenneth Gorman

described Roosevelt Island as being a very safe neighborhood.

Update On Roosevelt Island Duane Reade Stabbing Last Night - Suspect Arrested Hiding In Bushes, Charged With Attempted Murder, Assault And Reckless Endangerment, Victim In Critical Condition Says NYPD

As reported yesterday:

There was a stabbing in front of the Roosevelt Island Duane Reade store at 425 Main Street this evening at about 7:30 PM.

Two men, described as in their 20's, began fighting in the area between the Roosevelt Island F Train subway entrance and Duane Reade and continued fighting inside the store.

One man was stabbed and taken by ambulance to a hospital....

According to a NYPD spokesperson today:

The victim was a 42 year old male, stabbed in the arm and torso. The victim was removed to Cornell Hospital in critical condition.

The suspect, a 39 year old male, was taken into custody at 8:05 PM and charged with attempted murder, assault 2 and reckless endangerment.

Neither lived on Roosevelt Island. The suspect lives in Queens and victim lives in Brooklyn. They were strangers to each other. The cause of the incident in not known at this time. The case is under active investigation. 

A weapon was not recovered.

The suspect was found by NYPD officers in the bushes behind Riverwalk Park at 460 Main Street

Earlier today, I asked the Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC):

Any comment from RIOC on the fight and stabbing by the Duane Reade and subway entrance last night. Residents are very concerned about Roosevelt Island safety issues including area near Duane Reade/Subway entrance where a man threatened to kill a 4 year old girl last week.

No response from RIOC or any statement to the community about the stabbing incident. 

RIOC Public Safety Department Deputy Chief Anthony Amoroso was at the scene of the Duane Reade stabbing speaking with NYPD officers.

Roosevelt Island mom Suzy del Campo Perea is very worried about safety in our neighborhood. She writes:

This is just the worst that could have happened tonight.

My Girl Scout troop went to sell GS Cookies (pre-order) tonight precisely between the subway door station and the DR of RI. Exactly between 6-7pm tonight.

If we have stayed a little more, if these guys have shown up earlier, girls between 8-10yrs old could have been injured, knocked down and will be extremely frighten in our own neighborhood! In their very own backyard!

It is ridiculous that kids can’t return home, go to DR, walk home or just be out selling Girl Scout cookies with out an act of violence in the most forgotten and hidden place, the “safest” of NYC.

This has to stop! Our kids deserve to live in a peaceful, law protected place without violent mentally ill, among drug users and criminals.

This could have gone wrong in so many ways.

We have to do something and it could be reaching out to the DA and the Mayor. No kid should be living among violence, expose to it, neither live in fear of bumping into violence!

Another Roosevelt Island parent reported this scary incident in the same area  that happened on Thursday, January 20:

This morning a mentally ill person threatened to kill my four-year-old daughter openly and directly. PSD was unable to help me identify or deal with the aggressor.

It happened at 8:30 am, under the subway station's archway while waiting for the red bus. As we arrived to wait there, the person was talking to themselves inside the station. Still, soon after, he walked outside and started speaking directly to my daughter and me screaming about racial injustice and saying, "I'll kill your kids, I'll kill your daughter," and "Yes, I am talking to you."... 

During the January 18 Roosevelt Island Residents Association (RIRA) Public Safety Committee (PSC) monthly meeting, RIOC Public Safety Department Pubic Safety Chief Kevin Brown said:

I've  said this a number of times that Roosevelt  Island is one of the safest communities in New York City. However, we have to keep our eye on the quality of life  issues out there that Public Safety will not let get out of control...

Fight And Stabbing In Front Of Roosevelt Island Duane Reade This Evening - This Is A Developing Story, More Details To Come

There was a stabbing in front of the Roosevelt Island Duane Reade store at 425 Main Street this evening at about 7:30 PM.

The NYPD is searching for the other man. Police officers were seen rushing into the Riverwalk Park building 460 Main Street.

The investigation is ongoing.

A NYPD spokesperson reported that 2 men were fighting each other at approximately 11 PM on a southbound F Train Monday evening.

One man hit his head on subway train bench, suffered head lacerations, produced a knife and slashed the second male on the nose. The fight spilled over to the Roosevelt Island subway platform.

The man with the knife was arrested, charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon. The second man was arrested, charged with intoxication and misdemeanor assault.

According to the Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC) Public Safety report of the incident:

11/15/21 – 2322 – 400 Main St – Assault – PSD/NYPD/EMS responded – Referred to NYPD Transit, aided transported to hospital

Early Morning Stabbing At Roosevelt Landings Building Last Friday - Roosevelt Island Resident Arrested For Assault And Marijuana Possession

A stabbing occurred early Friday morning in front of the Roosevelt Landings building at 560 Main Street.

According to a NYPD spokesperson, on August 21, following a verbal argument, a 38 year old male struck a 25 year old male with an unknown sharp object in the abdomen. The incident took place in front of 560 Main Street at approximately 12:40 AM. The victim took himself to the hospital where he was treated for lacerations.

The perpetrator, a Roosevelt Island resident, was arrested for assault and possession of marijuana.

A Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC) spokesperson adds:

There was an assault incident on Roosevelt Island on Friday, August 21st at 1:40 AM involving two men. The victim was taken to the hospital and was reported to be in stable condition at that time. The suspect was arrested by the NYPD for 2nd degree assault.

Man Assaulted And Slashed With Knife Walking On Roosevelt Island Main Street At 6:45 PM Last Night, Attempted Neck Chain Snatching Says NYPD

I received these reports last evening from Roosevelt Island residents:

Saw a couple parts of the sidewalk closed off on Main Street. Blood and glass all over. Was told a crime was committed. First seen was south of the Subway and second scene was outside the temporary library. PSD didn’t say much except there was a crime. Any word?

And:

They have yellow tape outside the library and there's a red liquid/fluid.

In response to my inquiry, a NYPD spokesperson reported today:

On Friday, October 27, 2017 at approximately 1845 hours, police responded to a 911 call of a male assaulted in the vicinity of 505 Main Street within the confines of the 114 Precinct.

Upon arrival, police were informed that a 19-year-old male victim was walking in the vicinity of 505 Main Street when an unidentified individual approached and slashed the victim on his left arm. The unidentified individual attempted to remove a chain from the victim’s neck.

The individual then fled in an unknown direction without any property. The victim was transported to an area hospital via EMS in stable condition. There are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.

I've asked the Roosevelt Island Public Safety Department for info and will update if more details received.

Assault In Roosevelt Island Roosevelt Landings Building Stairway Early Sunday Morning - Victim Suffered Multiple Cuts, Slashes And Stab Wounds

According to a NYPD spokesperson:

On Sunday at approximately 0341 hours a 35 year-old male informed police that he was inside of 560 Main Street in a stairway when he suffered multiple cuts, slashes and stab wounds by an unknown cutting instrument on his left arm, stomach, and chest. Suspect is male and known to victim. There are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.

Stabbing at Roosevelt Island Subway Station Platform

The June 20, 2009 daily Roosevelt Island Public Safety Report indicated that there was a stabbing at the Roosevelt Island subway station. Below is the report of the incident.

Assault Two- Male age 16 stabbed on subway platform treated by EMS and transported to Mount Sinai Queens, injuries not life threatening.

Roosevelt Island Public Safety Director Keith Guerra provides further details.

On 6/20/09 at approximately 1:18 PM, a male victim was assaulted on the Manhattan Bound Platform of the Train Station by a subject known to him. The suspect confronted the victim over an issue involving a friend of the victim. When the victim attempted to walk away from the situation, the suspect tugged at him from behind and stabbed him in his right upper chest area with a knife. The suspect then fled the scene and the victim, who is an island resident, came to the Public Safety Department to report the incident. He received proper Medical attention and was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital in Queens. The NYPD Transit Detectives caught the case and are handling the investigation from here on out.
